  • No guitar snobs allowed!
The weight, the neck, bridge, tuners, pickups, the sound...all Oustanding! This is a solid, versatile, affordable guitar. I have nerve damage in my left hand as it has been for over 40 years, So, my style of tuning and playing, while interestingly unique, makes me sound better than my skills/handicap might suggest. It is versatile when playing pop, rock, a little shredding and Country. It's not because there were any flaws, that I also put copper tape in the cavities under the scratch plate to quiet external interference. Worth every penny for its inherent versatility in crafting the right sounds. ... show more

  • Ultimate value
There is perhaps no guitsr better than this when it comes to maximizing your dollars spent. You can certainly spend less, even $50 less, and get a noticeable drop in quality. You can also spend more and, while this would give you a better guitar, your money will not being going as far as it does here. Straight out of the box it is ready to go on tour. That's a lot to ask of any guitar <$1k. On top of that, the color is beautiful and the tonal capabilities are superb. I debated buying it for almost 2 years and in hindsight I just deprived myself of this great guitar for that much longer. Whether you're a beginner or a touring musician, this is a guitar worth your time and money. Lots of upgrades are available on the secondary market, but it is solid out of the box. Stop waiting. Buy it now. ... show more

  • A+++
I love this guitar so much! It’s the first guitar I’ve bought that is set up and sounds great right out of the box ! For a squier and for the price it’s a great guitar and deal but even without it being a squier it’s a great guitar plays and sounds amazing the neck in particular feels great to play. Hats off to J mascis too bad they don’t sell his signature fender Jazzmaster anymore ... show more

  • Perfect right out of the box
After tuning it played amazingly right out of the box. The feel of this neck is different than my strat or tele and I love it. Pickups are pretty hot for my 20 watt champion but sound great on the spark 40. This is my new favorite guitar and I'm glad it came on time with no issues.

  • Fantastic
I can echo the hype. By far the best under $500 guitar I’ve played, and I’ve played a lot of them!

  • Fender’s best Squier
The J. Mascis Jazzmaster is in my humble opinion the best that Squier has to offer. Not only does it come out of the box with upgrades most would apply anyway. Upgrades like the much appreciated tune-o-matic bridge and P90-style wound pickups and even a nice satin finish on the back of the neck for super comfortable playability. They even moved the entire tremolo tailpiece assembly closer to the body/bridge to increase the break angle for more sustain. I’m so happy I bought one before they were discontinued. I’d recommend one to just about anybody. I hope to see more like this in the future. ... show more

  • Craftsmanship issue
The JM Jazzmaster I received, looks amazing, sounds amazing but there are a couple of issues. The G string does not rest in the neck nut so it slips all the time. Also, the tremolo creaks and the spring makes a tone of noise. Being that I just spent the money on buying this, looks like I will have to spend more to have this brand new guitar fixed. What a bummer!!! The pickups sound amazing, though they are not Jazzmaster, pickups. They run real hot and you get a loud, powerful sound from them. The neck is great, other than the nut. Love this guitar but will love it that much more once it is fixed and playable. ... show more

  • This Squire plays like a 1.5K guitar.
I can’t believe this guitar has this level of quality. I played a used one about a year and a half ago but I returned it, I think the previous owner had messed around with the original pickups. I loved how it played but the sound was not very good. I decided to buy it again because I had travel with it and I had made personal memories with it. Well I was surprised at how it sounded, the pickups are awesome and the craftsmanship is outstanding. I will not change a thing, the tuners are good, the bridge although is a 12 inch radius and the fretboard is 9.5 I can get a low action and It does not affect the playability whatsoever, it would be crazy of me to put my own take on the hardware when the guitar is killer the way it is. Best guitar purchase ever and I own 3K guitars. ... show more
