The product was well packaged and arrived in good condition. It included the wrong instruction manual, but I understand that mistakes occur and it was fairly intuitive to set up. There were some extra screws and caps (I hope! Like I said, no instructions) and I like how the cap looks. The instruction manual I received recommended only finger tightening, which was good advice for this shelf as well, as it made it much easier to line up the screws with the shelves. All of the pre-drilled holes were lined up well, and the shelf feels very stable. It’s a slim, good looking shelf for a small area, and the distance between shelves allows for tall books to stand upright. I considered leaving the caps off because they were somewhat difficult to put on, but they look good, and probably could’ve been added more easily with a rubber mallet.

Let's get it out the way: it's a Chinese lottery when you order one of these. Expect for something to be damaged, but hope it will be inconsequential or adds character. At $70, it is quite overpriced. However, its versatility and compact nature along with an admittedly beautiful, glossy laminate (pictured) make it a convenient solution to stylish storage desires. For my part, I had a sizable dent (pictured) on one of the main support frames, but was fortunate to have no damage on any of the laminate or its connectors. The welding work is suspect at the top of the frames (pictured), but this is generally fine, since it isn't supporting weight at that location. The directions are simple, and the screw package is actually nice. The holes in the laminate are pre-drilled, and the schematics stress that you SHOULD NOT use machinery, and with good reason - it's all pretty fragile. Assembly will take roughly an hour, and I recommend having something like an office chair to prop the frames up on when you're connecting them. The rods included have a similarly suspect weld profile as the top of the frames, and will never be flush with the supports (pictured), but do their job anyhow. The hardest part is forcing the laminate to mate with the provided screws, and this is where your luck is really going to show: even one hole slightly off will make your entire shelf useless. You will want to "set" each side of the respective laminate plates with a few screw turns, and completely ignore how awful it looks for the time being. All that matters is securing the laminate until it vaguely resembles a structure, and stays in place. Start from the bottom and work your way up, it will be much easier. The tension will increase as you go up, but you will have a much easier time than if you were struggling at the bottom. Once each screw is set, you then use the provided hex wrench to do proper alignment on the pieces. Do one on each side in sequence, and to be especially safe, don't do it all the way until the final touches. You will see the screws sticking out as bare metal, and the structure will seem misaligned. DON'T PANIC: this will fix itself on your final touch-up, where you continue to tighten the screws until you visibly see the wood get pulled to the support frame. This is why you do them carefully on alternating sides. Once you have done this, it will be finished. The provided plastic caps are awful, don't use them unless you enjoy the finger pain you've already undergone. I have provided images of the holding pins with and without their caps. They do not fit without extreme force. After assembly, I noticed the whole thing was lop-sided and one leg was shorter than the others. This can be remedied with a small piece of folded paper. Once everything was done, I have to say that it really does look nice. I would sooner have just paid for the laminate and built my own sturdier structure, but if you're someone who really needs the exact measurement of this and are a fan of the laminate paneling (and may like a little excitement in their furniture building), you can do much worse than this. A little side note: the width is the total length including the bars, not the storage width.
