Got this set on sale and it is fantastic and exactly what I needed to upgrade my home gym. These aren't the fancy, rubber-coated, "drop-them-on-your-laminate-flooring" plates; these are the real, old-school iron classics. Weighty Matters (Literally) Let's just get the main point out of the way: if you're transitioning from rubber or plastic-cased plates, be prepared for a reality check. I swear these cast iron plates are even heavier than their labeled weight! They feel dense, raw, and just serious. Hauling the box inside was a workout in itself—my delivery driver definitely earned their paycheck on this one. If you’re looking for plates that will make you feel like you’re lifting in a proper, hardcore gym from the 70s, these are it. Sturdy, Reliable, and Built to Last The quality is exactly what you’d expect from solid cast iron. They are incredibly sturdy and look like they will stand up to years, if not decades, of serious abuse. The finish is a classic, no-frills black, and the weight markings are clear and easy to read. They fit perfectly on my Olympic bar with minimal wobble, and they just feel right when you rack and unrack them. Update (newest): the weights are harder than heck to get on the Olympic bar. I tried to deal with it for a few workouts but I think I might actually injure myself if I keep doing this. Thinking of returning this. I didn’t get the Olympic bar there was included. UPDATE: I finally got the bar. Note: even though Amazon shows it was delivered, some items will still be delivered.
