I bought this to trap and transport a very wary but friendly pregnant cat who adopted us. A regular trap and soft carrier were useless, but I bought this for the drop-down door, like an landing craft. I put her food in it and stayed close while she ate for a few days. At the right time, when she had three legs in it I closed the door and got her. If not for this carrier design, we'd be fostering kittens by now. No exaggeration. The unit folds flat with a really nice cushion inside. The sides fold out and will usually lock in place, but there is a place to manually snap them. The release button to unlock the sides are slightly hidden by the front of the carrier. The front lid has three snaps to make it rigid. Once you put it up and down twice, it becomes second nature; until the three snaps are locked, everything is slightly flexible for ease of fitting. The only possible drawback is the larger model, ours, is wider and somewhat awkward to carry when a large cat is in it. If we ever have to take one of ours, Chubba the Catt, I may have to put casters on it as he is 20+ pounds. If your cat is placid and likes to get in a carrier you are fortunate. If otherwise, this one will save you blood loss and the cat won't be as traumatized. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to get the cat into the box!
Style: XL carrier
Review Image by A Square A Square
This was the least traumatic trip to the vet ever! Slynx still hated the car ride, but at least I wasn't injured getting her into the carrier (it was actually easy - just grab all 4 paws and slide her in). The carrier held her 20 lb weight. It was awkward to carry but without shredded hands I didn't mind as much. She was able to move, turn around, and I could probably fit a 10 lb cat in there with her comfortably. I heartily endorse this for difficult to box cats. It is now folded down to about 4" thick and put away til next time. I plan to buy a second and get rid of the bulky boxes. ... show more

    • 5.0 out of 5 stars it is for a smaller cat
Style: A carrier with a bed
I tried both carrier sizes. This one is definitely too small for my 23lb cat, even without the bed. Can I stuff him into it? Yes. Can he turn around? Barely. Size XL provides more spaces than needed for my cat and is rated for 35 lb, but it doesn't fit into my Corolla and is too cumbersome for me to carry. If you have a large cat, XL is awesome, but you also need a large car to accommodate the crate. I wish there was a size in between, it would have been perfect. ... show more

    • 5.0 out of 5 stars XL was great for a 8 hour trip with 2 Cats that never travel.
Style: XL carrier
Review Image by Brenda Brenda
Great for vet visits and long car trips. Just relocated 8 hours away, and these crates were very comfortable for them. They have great ventilation, and they are so easy with the front loading door. Sturdy, ergonomic, and easy to carry. Highly recommend. My vet said, "I wish every cat owner had these crates!" Money well spent. ... show more

    • 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to get cats in, feels a little "flimsy" but have used for very heavy (18-20lb) cats
Style: XL carrier
I bought this for the ease of entry-voluntary or otherwise (mostly otherwise). I always am nervous about door popping open so I bought a suitcase strap, and i use that to strap around the door, under the handle and that makes me much more comfortable with it. When you have a heavy cat, those big front door carriers with the edge that sticks out, banging into your side, are so hard to carry. Those zipper ones, forget it none of them have locking zippers, cats can push right through them. This is much better. Still waiting for one designed like a laundry basket, with a curve to accommodate the body of the human carrying it. ... show more

    • 4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough
Style: Cat Carrier
Bought this to transport a kidden. It stood up to his attempts at escape. That was my sole criterion, because I never attempted to collapse and then re-erect it. Anyone complaining that their cat expressed anxiety over being imprisoned in a box is loopy. How is that this box's fault?

    • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Wildlife Rescue
Style: Sport
I am a wildlife rehabber. I love using these to pick up juvenile/adult raccoons, adult opossums and fawns. It so much easier for me to put an animal that is on my catch pole into this crate compared to the traditional dog or cat crates that have the metal door in the front. Fawns can lie down comfortably and be secure during transport. I also like that they collapse when not in use. I do recommend securing the sides with tie wraps if you are transporting adult raccoons because they may pop the sides down and get loose. I have about 15 of these in the XL size and 10 in the regular size. ... show more
