Density is firmer than an average yoga mat, but spongier than the (rubber?) floors in actual gyms. With the thickness, it provides padding without being overly bouncy. I’ve been using it to jump rope on, and it’s great for that. Durability seems fine for home use, but I doubt they’d survive long in commercial usage. Scratching the surface with a fingernail leaves wrinkles. Tested the waterproofness with success. One of the two edge piece cut patterns leaves the corners susceptible to bending out of alignment - see pic. The surface design on the pieces aren’t exactly all the same, so while they’ll physically fit together fine, the pattern may not line up and leave unsightly seams. You can even see the mismatch if you look closely at some of the product pics. Trying to make a 2x5 mat, I was only able to make two 2x2’s that matched after trying numerous permutations. Eventually gave up and am living with a mismatched 2x5 while trying not to look too closely at the mat. Either improving the surface design, or somehow noting on the back which pieces match, would alleviate this issue. ... show more

If you are reading this review on pule-mats, then you are probably confused by the dizzying array of choices that are available. Knowing everyone has a different use for these mats, makes it even harder to know which reviews to pay more attention to. So for this reason, I will try to explain what I think these mats are best for. First, let me say, I have ordered several types of mats (more than 7) in the last 3 years. So, my comments are in comparison to the other mats which I have various uses for (gym, office, even bedroom yoga studio). The first major difference between this mat and the others is the minimalist edge design. If you have pets (especially cats that pull up the edges), then you will LOVE this design because they are more securely attached (less material to pull at with claws) to dislodge them. I have pictured these minimalist edges as compared to another mat that I like (pictured in blue). So these mats by Sportneer also look thinner. But as you can see by my measurement they are almost 0.5 inches thick; similar to most of my other mats. They do seem a little more dense, meaning they might be slightly better for stacking weight benches and other equipment on, while minimizing the grooves and impressions they leave. In fact, I think these would be much better than my other mats for exercise bikes and treadmills. However, keep in mind that ANY puzzle mats you find will form impressions after heavy objects have sat on them. If that bothers you, then you might consider industrial gym floorings. for me, however, if I leave heavy weights on a mat and the impressions don't reslve themselves, I would simply move it to a less visible spot or buy extras and replace them. These mats also have a good 'under-foot' feeling. Enough give to feel good on your joints, but not too much to interfere with your training. ... show more
