I get it, this is not an expensive big-name reel and it's Chinese to boot. BUT ... I own 3 of these reels. I have caught some really nice sized saltwater fish like red and black drum in the 40-50 lbs range as well as a ton of gaftop catfish in the 5-11 lbs range with this reel on a 12 ft DAIWA rod and all 3 performed very well every time. Rinse it off when you get home, keep it lubed. Basically, treat it like any other reel and it always works. They are well designed and sturdy. ... show more

This reel is very smooth and feels like it is made of strong material. The spool hold a good amount of line which is really helpful when you are casting from the shore. If I could improve something on this reel it would be the bail strength. After a couple of casts the bail spring came loose inside of the assembly making things a bit difficult. I was able to fix it but ultimately it kept coming loose. This is a great starter reel if you're just getting into shore fishing but if you are looking for a more reliable option you will need to spend more money. ... show more
