I have not abused this reel, dropping repeatedly in the sand, or stomping on it. Nor have I cast 10k casts to test durability, and I plan on doing none of that in the future. I have tested it out, and everything functions as it should, smoothly and efficiently, without any sloppiness, grinding noises, or slippage that one can sometimes find in inferior reels. The reel has a nice balanced smooth feel. The description states 6+1 bearings however the reel and the box boasts 13+1 bearings which helps support the gears better providing longer smooth longevity to the life of the reel. I would trust the packaging and marking on the reel, so you are actually getting a better reel than advertised. The ball style handle is very ergonomic which is great for that unexpected bite and being able to get on it quickly. The handle of the reel turns very smoothly and seems to have plenty leverage to make the fight smooth with that tough fighting large fish. (Unfortunately, I haven't hooked anything large enough yet to really put it to the test but I have full confidence it will do well.) The description states for Saltwater or Freshwater but I would be very careful with Saltwater and ensure it gets a good thorough rinse after each use. True corrosion resistant materials are pricey and I question how well the gears and other inner metal workings will do. This reel offers many features of higher end reels and works smoothly so far. I wouldn't expect it to have quite the longevity of some of it's much higher priced competitors but this will get you in the game at a very nice price for at least 2 - 3 years of consistent fishing. ... show more

This reel is as smooth as butter! It has 13 micro ball bearings through out the reel. It easily out does models with less bearings. The drag is sensitive and clicky. The general construction of the reel is well made and quality. The bale is slightly canted to give smoother line feed and return. The handle is the only thing that I don’t like about the reel. The large knob has its advantages but also has its drawbacks. It can feel a little bulky if you’re used to something smaller, but other than that this reel is amazing! ... show more

I took this spinner out last weekend for a day at the lake kayak fishing. It performed really, really well. The action is super smooth and it functions just as well, if not better, than the more expensive spinning reels I have. I'm more of a baitcasting reel guy, but you can't beat a spinning reel for lightweight lures. I was able to chuck some small lures much farther than I had anticipated (apologies to all of the tree limbs I harmed). It's really inexpensive given its performance (in my opinion) and looks absolutely fantastic. I'll keep fishing with this reel and will update if longevity ever becomes an issue, however, I don't anticipate that being a problem. I even let my nephew use it for the second half of the day as his spinning reel broke and he had zero issues with it. This is pretty much ready to go out of the box. Just tighten the handle, spool up some line, and go find some water! ... show more

I’d bought a cheap rod and reel combo a couple years ago for when I rarely go spinning but while I was comfortable that the rod was adequate, the reel was questionable functionally, frankly included for not much more reason than to allow “combo” to be added in the title. I had a couple old Mitchell reels from my youth and dug them out but while they worked, they had lost that special something which I remembered when pike fishing with them. Time and lack of care did not help. Wanting to go spinning again in the near future , I decided on this reel from a company I don’t know. And I like it a lot. It’s as smooth as butter to wind and I like the large half dome handle much better than the flat handles of my past. The auto-bail works well and the reverser lock equally. The reel is very comfortable and super smooth in the hand. Light but not overly so. In holding the piece which attaches to your rod and moving your wrist, the spool will rotate smoothly purely with the weight of the handle dropping through gravity. Very nice.
