First, I'd like to say that I rarely review any products because the items I get are usually average crap, which doen't deserve reviews. Secondly, I do not get paid to post reviews, and Spider farmer isn't paying me to say this. I research everything I buy. I don't just research it, I look at every review, comment, and question about an item i'm interested in buying. I try to spend a few hours researching what I want to buy. About this light.. I had a high budget for a light. I looked at so many lights ranging from $100 to $1200 dollars. I decided to go with Spider Farmer. I went to those weed forums online to see what those average people are saying about lights. I was super impressed with Spider farmer. There wasnt one bad thing anyone said about them...not one. I was so sure that this was a great light, that I actually purchased another one before I received my first one! Thats how sure I was. When I got home, I was like a little kid, I immediately opened up the box. I unpacked it, and the first thing I did was run to the nearest outlet to see how bright this light was. All I can say is Holy Crap! The entire room light up like I was using one of those Sky Tracker lights you see in parking lots of grand openings lol. Thoughts... The light doesnt have a fan, but if you can get a cheap clip on fan, just aim it over the ballast on the light. It will not even get warm... The no fan is not an issue. Since it has no fan, it's super quiet. You don't need this light 12" above your plants. It doesnt matter if you keep it 12" above your plants, or 30" above. It is BRIGHT!!! I have it in a 2x2 tent, and I think it's crazy bright! If you think this light may be a good choice for your plants, but you just aren't really sure enough. Let me just say that you would be silly not buying this light. Whoever the person (people) is behind the name Meizhi, they seem like great people. Ive read the questions and comments several times, and Meizhi is right there, answering every question. Great light! Great Price! Great Customer Support! It pays to research! ... show more

Great for the the specs it says and still running. I use this and a budget light in a 4x4 space. Worked excellent and a 2x4 space too. Almost too strong for the 2x4 and not strong enough on its own for a 4x4 space. Great to pair with others. Especially for the wattage.

I have been growing high quality weed for almost 10 years now and always had great success until 2019. I got bugs that I've never had before and it took me a long time to identify what I had and how serious it was, so in the end, I lost strains that I'd been cloning for 3-4 years. The bug was 'Hemp Russet Mites' and they are prevalent here because it is becoming a hemp capital rapidly. I figured it was time to upgrade my system. I bought a Bloombox from BC Northern lights several years ago. It's been a very good grow system, but as I learned to be a better grower, I've modded my box pretty heavy. I unwired the 400W HPS and wired this baby in. I made little feet so that it sits right on top of the glass inside the bloombox flower chamber light area. So when the bloombox computer turns the lights on, this LED upgrade comes on. The fans come on as normal, so it's continuously cooled by the Bloombox cooling fans. I've been using this for about a month and I love it very much. The growbox is much brighter. It uses about 177 Watts less than the 400W HPS before. So it runs cooler, uses less electricity and the plants love it. There is nothing to change, I just flip the switch from veg to flower (on the Bloombox) and it just changes the timing from 18 hours to 12 hours. The lighting from the growlight does not change between veg and flower. Only the timing (as provided by my growbox). In the enclosed pictures, I took a screenshot on Jan 31 of my two plants that I grew from seed. As you can see by the pics, they grew a lot in one month. This was all with the Spider lights. The last pic shows how well the flowers are doing, both male and female! I decided to cross breed so I hope to have seeds that are Girl Scout Cookies and Chemodo Dragon for my own strain. I feel like this light is so much better than the 400W HPS it replaced. They could really make the package complete if they shipped their lights with a few cool stickers. But yes, if you are looking for a great veg/flower light, this is it! ... show more

I got this light at the beginning of the year to start my summer season crops indoors before the snow melted so I could get a jumpstart on the spring planting season. Its pretty damn nice!!! A little bummed they raised the price once they realized what they had, although they did add an external dimmer on the newest model which I totally wish mine had. The growth and yields are pretty dang nice, and it covers a 4x4 table very well!!! I have ran this against 600HPS in a magnum XXXL hood. ( our old commercial standard for 4x4 tables ) and it holds it own very well. I do wish the boards where a little farther apart and the whole unit was a little larger just an extra .75inches between the boards would have worked and really gave amazing coverage over a 4x4 without hurting anything IMO. Now is this an American Made HLG no no its not, BUT that doesn't mean its not a very good light for the money!!!!! With the new improvements such as the external dimmer dial, and daisy chainable dimmer control so 1 dimmer can run multiple units is a great feature for future upscaling. Now it does tend to run a bit hot to the touch, nothing like a non air-cooled HPS runs but still easily over 100 degrees farenheit. Also the cables and clips provided to hang it do work, but if you have lower ceilings or space is of a premium in your room/tent they can be a bit annoying as they take up about 8-10inches of additional space the way its designed. This is nothing that can't be worked around with a little creative thinking but is still a tad annoying none the less. Quality and yields ( for fragrant/medical flowers ) have been plenty nice, at 400-450watts power draw it tends to produce about 45-50 grams a sq. ft. depending on your style and of course genetics but still on par with running 600 HPS over the same table, same genetics, same everything only thing changed was the light. Long story short, if you need to cover a 4x4 and do it well, the SF-4000 is a solid performer!!! ... show more

Spider Farmer SF4000 light is top notch. Highly durable and perfect wattage for grow. Warranty for 5 years. I had my power supply ballast go out after 2 yrs. Of continuous use and customer service helped me replace it hassle free. Took about 2 weeks for the process and shipping. I can say to just be patient as it works out. So far my favorite light of all my grow lights. I really like the fact I can dim the lights to a reasonable power without having to raise and lower my setup. The light is strong enough for most of anything I'll be growing, but also capable of being toned down for delicate seedlings. Other companies seem to spend their time worried about packaging, which is like putting lipstick on a Pig. You can dress it up, but it's still a pig. Thank you Spider Farmer for putting out a quality product. Only thing I would suggest, is the company really needs to put more effort into making sure both sides of the aluminum board is smoothed down. Mine has bad scar marks from production that should have been smoothed out before it moved on thru production. ... show more

    • Great Lights Incorporating Samsung LM301H LEDs

These are fantastic lights for the price. They do cost a little more than most, but they are worth it. The key is the Samsung 301H LEDs. Do not mistake these for the cheaper Samsung 301B LEDs used in less expensive grow lights. Noted from Samsung: The LM301H EVO has an efficacy of up to 3.10 μmol/J, whereas the LM301B has an efficacy of up to 2.92 μmol/J. This means that the LM301H EVO can produce more light output per watt of energy consumed, which can result in significant energy savings and increased overall performance. I have a 4x4 tent but only use have of it. Having two 12x12s instead of a single 2x4 actually provides more coverage a light distribution and the ability to adjust heights individually to compensate for variance in height of the plants below them. Also having multiple lights in the event one goes bad, you still have light until a replacement arrives avoiding total darkness for 2 days. Some may say these lights get hot. I don't think so, but I correct this by having a small PC fan blowing across the underside of the lights and my exhaust is above them. The canopy of my plants are about 12" from the lights, but some of my buds are just about 9" for the lights with no problem from burning. My plants are loving them. ... show more
