I didn't realize that the author had past. I am at page 57 and it's starting to drag on. This was made into a movie. I didn't see it. In the beginning of the book I was enjoying it. Excellent book, crappy movie

    • SciFi at its Best...
I read this book many years ago, before the film was released. The book was better. (Isn't it always?) I was especially drawn to the idea that we, as humans, weren't ready for what the sphere was intended for. There is enough mystery to keep the reader turning pages, and enough of a reveal that, by the end of the novel, there's some satisfaction at having understood the point of it all. The Sphere has an exceptionally creative plot that left me questioning where we are going as a species. Unfortunately, we have a ways to go. ... show more

    • Favorite Crichton Book of All Time
While I've never seen Sphere the Movie, I can attest that this book is my favorite from this author. The suspense is excellent. Overall a page turner.
