I wanted an inexpensive option for my business line for infrequent communications via text, and this simple monthly plan for $5 was exactly what I was looking for. Works great in my dual SIM phone. Installation and setup was easy on my Samsung Note 10. Worked on the first try. Update 6/15/23: after almost a year I am downgrading from 5 stars. This phone number is constantly getting spammed by marketers and employers looking for their interviewee. I am not sure where the pool of phone numbers come from. I have another phone using Mint and do not have any of these issues. Fortunately I only need this phone number for rare situations otherwise I would never use it as my regular personal phone number.

I never have a problem with these at set up. Things always start right up. My BIG problem is my son gets phone calls all day to the point where I have to mute his watch. Therefore I can not call him because it's on silent. Pretty much just boils down to he can only call me in an emergency which is why I have it. School lockdowns or whatever. But it would be nice to call my son if I felt like it and he heard it. But I can't he gets so annoyed he turns off his watch. I got the watch because no teacher or whatever can take it away and no cellphone distraction. So it would be nice if I can block all people but me and select few so he can keep the sound on or not power off.

updated March 2023: finally fed up. My virtual CC number , unique to this SIM card, kept getting hacked. 2 times. So finally discontinued Speedtalk. Watch out with this company -- your CC will get stolen. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice -- shame on me, no more speedtalk. -----was 5 , now 2 stars. Group text starting failing, so did MMS ( sending a photo ). I contacted support, they said this device doesn't support MMS ? it did with t-mobile. At least they answered the phone quickly and I did speak with a human being. However I will likely drop this -- cause I do need to send photos! and do group texts. REVIEW WAS: so I bought this off amazon, looking for cheap phone since I rarely surf, no apps, bought a refurb android and this initial monthly sim. I have t-mobile prepaid on another phone , that's 10 cents per anything, this is 2 cents. Seems like a no brainer. I did have to provide a CC for auto-renew, 10$ a month is the cheapest . Logged into their website , entered the info, plugged in the sim ( phone off ), powered up.... and 3 minutes later... bam! phone active. New phone # , all working. text away and go out and play. Outstanding and painless. Micro-sim card fit perfectly ( also has regular sim ). Easy to unsnap card.

It is worth it for my kid's 4G watch. Make calls to the watch when needed. It is cheap. Still works. GPS works as well.

Good value. Unfortunately, this can not be used for ID verification purposes for some banks and financial institutions. This is a real problem for those of us who do not pay for a post-paid cellular plan. With apps like Messenger, services like Open Phone, and 4G/wifi plans, I do not need to pay for minutes and text messages. I agree that email is not necessarily good for identification purposes. But, many services now use text messages exclusively. So, if you can produce your IDs and call and that is still not sufficient to prove that you are who you say you are... this phone service may not help you either. They are a reseller, not a telecommunications service provider. So, they lack the credentials needed to offer this benefit.

THANK YOU, SPEED TALK! I bought 3 kiddo waterproof smart watches for my girls for a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge. I want to give them some freedom to play the magiquest game, but not at the expense of their safety, so I figured some smart watches that I could GPS/call/etc was the perfect fix. However, I went through hell and back trying to find SIM cards and service that would work for them!!! I bought and activated over 10 SIM cards from all different companies, wasting a ton of money in the process, only to come up short-handed on the results. Then I came across these bad boys. Instant relief. It took me MAYBE 5 minutes each to set them up and they worked as soon as I powered the watches on. They warn it may take up to 72 hours for the GPS to work, but in my case, it worked instantly. Calls are clear and not choppy, and I could not be more satisfied. At just under $6/ea, I couldn't ask for better value, and you get a decent amount of minutes/texts/data to start. Make sure you un-check the "auto re-fill" box when you register, or it will continue to charge you each month. Read what you're signing and you shouldn't have any issues (in reference to other reviews on here). I know I will continue to re-use the service on trips to come. THANK YOU AGAIN, SPEED TALK! unable to activate, called tech support several times, so many excuses received the card, looks legit. but that was the end of my positive experience. i tried to activate it, but the website was having some technical issues. had to call tech support, and they weren't able to activate it either. they said to wait 24 hours. at that point, it was already useless. to me. if you need to make a phone call, you usally don't have time to wait 24 hours to "maybe" get it to work anyhow, i gave it a long shot waited a few weeks and tried it again. i already wasn't looking forward to going through all this again. you have to keep typing in the 20 digit code on the back of the card. anyone ever heard of a QR code? this time the website required me to enter my credit card information just to get it o activate. it still didn't work. so i called tech support and they offered to send me a new SIM card, as long as i took a photo of my current SIM card , and sent them a copy of the receipt. i told them this is f-ing ridiculous. 2 months trying to get a SIM card to work is not worth $5. save your money and pay someone who has a reliable service to offer..
