I wanted to find something for my 100lb Am-Staffy that would protect him from the sun but also cool him down. It's hot in southern California and my boy comes back from his walks panting and takes a while to cool down. The best way I found using this vest that works for my dog is wetting it, ringing it out, then putting it in the freezer 20 mins or so before his walks. I like to get it a tad frozen. He's worn it four times since we got it last week and it's one of the best things I could have bought for him. We take longer walks and the vest stays wet/damn the whole time. This is why I like putting it in the freezer bc it keeps it colder. I noticed a huge change in his walks when we get back home he's not as hot, cools down way faster, it's easy to use, and it's adjustable which is great. The color is exactly what the picture shows. Overall what the vest says it offers it does. No lies told! I got the largest size offered and it fits my dog perfectly! If you're looking for a cool down for your fur baby while outside I highly recommend this vest. Over functionality is great! Another great tip is allowing your dog to wear the vest a few minutes in the house before going outside and keeping it on a few minutes after getting back home.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Frenchies were not made for hot summer days in Hawaii . . . . but this cooling coat had great reviews. I took my girl Bebe out for a walk on a warm Hawaii day and the jacket stayed cool to the touch. She was not used to wearing "clothes" and rolled in the dirt with it - but it washed up nicely with the hose sprayer. It seems well made and will give me more options during the day for walking her this summer. It was easy to put on , it comes with some rear leg straps but she hated those and they didnt seem like they were necessary to keep the jacket on straight so I will cut them off before I use it again. My dog is 19 pounds and the size large seems to be about right for her after tightening up the two straps that attach to the chest piece. It seems sturdy and well made.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: My guy did great with this cooking jacket! Wasn’t sure how the back straps would fit but didn’t seem to bother him. I soaked and put it in the fridge. It definitely helped him recover. He is usually panting dying on the floor and shifting spots to cool down. After using the jacket there was minimal, less panting and his recovery was quick with this 100 degree weather. Functionality: The straps fit well for my big chested Doberman Cute: The colors rocked! I have a boxer/lab mix that is only 62 pounds, but is tall and lanky. He has huge shoulders and a very deep and narrow chest. I can never find things that will fit his neck and shoulders and will still fit his narrow chest. I bought the 4xl and it fits well. I wish the neck hole was slightly wider, but it isn't tight. This seems to be sewn well and I like the fabric. The leg straps are odd and I don't think my dog will tolerate them. I didn't bother with them and will probably cut them off. Four stars instead of five because I'm disappointed that this isn't designed to be used with a harness. We use a simple collar to take him to the dog park, so it shouldn't be a problem. But we use a harness for walking around town and I think I'm either going to try cutting a hole for the leash or just buying something else. We haven't been to the dog park yet due to weather, but I will update my review after a few uses. My review so far is based just on fit and fabric.

It goes on easily, but my dog does not like the butt straps. It looks very uncomfortable to me too, so I don't use them, which then makes the vest a little loose around the chest. I might try another brand that doesn't have the hind straps.

Have now used it on a hike and while in the backyard in 90+ degree temps. My dog seems to like it and pant less while wearing it. I was worried that the straps under her legs would cause irritation but they have not. She is a 68lb boxer mix who is long with a barreled chest. She fits perfectly in a 3XL, the same size as a pair of dog pajamas I’ve purchased from Spark Paws. I soaked the vest in water and placed it in the fridge before going outside. It stayed cool to the touch for at least two hours. I have not tested it for longer periods of time yet. Spark Paws has fantastic quality products and everything I’ve purchased through them has been great!

Works well to keep my Frenchie cool on hot days when he wants to be outside with us. I soak it, wring it out, and then keep it in the refrigerator so it’s ready whenever we need it. On really hot days I will re-wet it and pop it in the freezer for a little while. The back leg straps are slightly annoying. My dog doesn’t like them at all.
