Pros: *Dirt cheap compared to the name-brand blocks *Compatible with the name-brand blocks *Great for stoking your child's creativity (building things besides what's on the instructions) *Wonderful nostalgia hit if you loved these as a kid yourself Cons: *May not fit perfectly with name-brand pieces in some cases, but typically not an issue Okay, I'll admit it, I got these for myself. I LOVED space toys as a kid, and building block toys like this set always inspired me to build my own creations. Out of a large set like this, I would often build several smaller ships that did not fit the included "men", but instead imagined these smaller ships being things like frigates, carriers, battle cruisers, etc. I let my imagination run wild, rather than being locked into the build displayed on the package. This is the best part of a toy like this, not having to follow the instructions to build something cool, unique and fun. For 400+ pieces, a single set of the name-brand blocks would easily cost you 2-3 times as much, and all you get for that extra money honestly is the logo stamped on the individual pieces. Sure, the tolerances on off-brand blocks may not always be 100%, but rarely do you have a real issue, and they are often easier to separate than the "real" pieces. I remember having to use a knife blade or my teeth to separate pieces of those, and I almost never had to do it with generics. Whether you want that nostalgia hit, or just want something to keep your kid busy, It's hard to go wrong with these, especially if you want to spare your wallet some shock. Replay value and igniting that creative fire are why this set is worth every penny.

Let me tell you about the cosmic escapades my son and I embarked on, thanks to Sciencow's Space Exploration Shuttle Toys! When that package landed in our hands, my 10-year-old's eyes lit up like shooting stars, ready to blast off into an intergalactic adventure! On a day so hot it felt like we were orbiting the sun itself, my son surprised me by choosing this Space-tastic STEM Aerospace Building Kit instead of his usual video game escapades. Eager as an astronaut ready to explore the unknown, he tore open the box, uncovering a universe of possibilities - rockets, space shuttles, moon buggies, and satellites, oh my! It was like discovering a secret stash of alien technology! With the skill of a seasoned rocket scientist (okay, maybe with a little trial and error), he began assembling the pieces, creating his own fleet of space exploration wonders. The look of concentration on his face was out of this world! I half-expected mission control to radio in with commands. As the space shuttles and rockets started to take shape, I couldn't help but wonder if our house was secretly the Kennedy Space Center. My son's excitement was contagious, and soon enough, we were launching missions all around the living room. In no time, we had traversed the Milky Way, visited distant planets (so watch out, aliens!), and even made a detour around a black hole (just kidding, it was the laundry hamper). Amidst the sweaty summer heat, this space-themed adventure was a breath of fresh, cosmic air. We soared through the stars, discussing the mysteries of the universe, like whether aliens prefer pizza or space burgers (I'm rooting for space burgers). My little astronaut's newfound passion for space was so infectious that he's now set on learning more about the cosmos. We've promised to load up on some cosmic books per his request, and I can't wait to see him devouring knowledge like a black hole gobbles up stars! Oh, but if I could have one wish, it would be for a cheeky little educational pamphlet about space, or maybe even a poster of a planet sporting some funky shades. But hey, who needs that when we're already exploring the final frontier like seasoned space travelers? Sciencow's Space Exploration Shuttle Toys have turned our home into a whimsical space station. Not only did it ignite my son's curiosity about the universe, but it also provided an out-of-this-world adventure filled with laughter and learning. The building toy itself is of decent quality, but this kit is not really suitable for the younger end of the the advertised recommended ages. I was also a bit concerned by the extra parts in this kit, they are a bunch of very small plastic castings of weapons. They don't really fit with the advertised theme of space travel, and are referenced nowhere on the box or in the directions.

This has been a fun and entertaining set for my kiddos to put together. My son is really into space right now, so this was the perfect set for him to sit down and work on when he's bored or it's a rainy day. Definitely beats having him set up on a video game. Easy to assemble and instructions were fairly clear and easy to follow along to. Lots of pieces so be ready to organize or you'll lose a good bit. The end product was super neat and gives more than just one item. I would definitely recommend this!
