It wasn't too hard to put together but did take two of us and about 2.5 hours. Very sturdy, comfortable, and I love the color. Definitely decide where you want it because it is already heavy without the drawers or mattress, and it takes muscle to move it.

After being without a bed frame for roughly a year, I was super excited to finally be able to order this South Shore mate's bed. I love the color and it looks fantastic when assembled. Be advised that it is made from pressed wood, but most affordable furniture these days is, so I was not surprised. Furniture made from "real wood" (solid wood) is extremely expensive, so my recommendation is that if you are looking for something made from "real wood", find a craftsman and have something custom build. Otherwise, be aware that anything under $1,000 is going to be made of pressed wood and/or particle board. This does not make it a "bad bed" or "junk", just a more affordable option. The bed arrived a week earlier than what Amazon told me, so I was pleased. No damage during shipping (though the boxes looked like they had been roughed up considerably). It took me and my roommate (who is much handier and stronger then me) roughly two hours to put together. All the wood pieces are numbered, but I would've appreciated it if actual written instructions accompanied the pictures in the instruction booklet and the hardware (screws and dowels, etc) had also been numbered for identification purposes. If you are concerned about the durability and/or are not very good at assembling furniture, spend the extra money and include professional assembly with your order. Word of caution, however: the description says the bed is 54", however, this means that it will fit a 54" mattress. The bed frame itself actually measures 55 1/2" to 56", so be sure that you have measured the space you want to place the bed prior to ordering to make sure it fits. I have a door to a balcony in my room and have had to pull the bed roughly 2 inches from the wall in order to make sure the door will still open properly. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. I love the color and it goes really well with the color scheme of my room. It is very comfortable. No unnerving noises or shifting was experienced on my first night. ... show more

I've received only 1 box and when I opened it there was a pc.of paper stating that I should have 2 or 3 boxes all together. Therefore I couldn't put anything together. I just emailed south shore hopefully I can get the rest of the bed :( because I'm Missing parts.

Nowhere in the listing does it say that the headboard that it shows in the pictures of the frame is not included. The combination of drawers and headboard were the reason we decided to purchase this frame and here we only got a portion of the frame. It is another $200+ to get the frame that I was under the impression was already included with the frame because the listing is misleading. ... show more

Very happy. I love the blueberry color. However, it's a project to assemble. Even if you're handy, give yourself three hours to build this and take your time. I also used wood glue on the joints (not included), in which I highly recommend doing. The unit arrives in two separate boxes, and they're both heavy. So make sure you build this in the place where you intend to keep it, because it is very heavy once assembled. Not tough to build, just time consuming. Overall, we're very happy with it. I wish they supplied the glue because I think it makes a difference. Thankfully I read reviews before buying and those saying to use glue, saved me from a bad experience. I feel like that's definitely what others may of needed to help them. That and allowing it to dry before use. Overall, loving it for my kids. Perfect for smaller rooms.
