Top Amazon Reviews

  • Thoroughly Disgusted
I don't think I've ever written a one-star review, for I usually believe there is always something decent to be said about every purchase. Not this time. I am absolutely disgusted with this purchase and feel like I've thrown away over $200 on this bed. Save yourself the time, stress, and worry, and do not purchase this bed. There are better quality beds out there for the same amount of money. Keep looking. Why? Let me start. After a lengthy wait, the bed was shipped via Prime (the only good thing about this purchase) and came requiring a signature. When the box was opened, the instructions were almost indecipherable. The bed was put together mainly from looking at the pictures of it, and it took three days to piece it all together. This is not an easy assembly. Perhaps for a master carpenter, but not for the average Joe and Jane. Maybe we received a different product from the other reviewers, but I can honestly say that it took a solid 24 hours of labor to figure out which piece went where and assemble it all. It uses screws, fasteners, and required the use of a drill, screwdriver, and hammer, also not a big deal, but make sure you're ready. Upon assembly, eight screws were missing. Considering it was so big and heavy and took so long to ship, rather than wait for the pieces to come from the manufacturer, a trip to Home Depot was made to purchase them. Another delay in assembly. Finally, the bed is put together! But wait! As soon as it was sat on, the middle support beam broke - yes, broke. The wood snapped. After all the frustration of putting it together, the first time it was sat on, it fell apart. I can't even begin to explain how frustrating it was. Once more, since it took so long to come, another trip to Home Depot was made for a replacement board. However, now we're getting really stressed out. After a couple of weeks of gingerly sitting on the bed and replacing the fasteners that keep popping out because they don't fit the thin boards well, guess what? Sitting on the bed causes all the lower support beams to crack. Yes, crack. Now I don't know what tree this poor bed came from, but it's the cheapest, flimsiest wood I've ever seen. We're not overweight people, and this is coming from a person 115 pounds sitting on it. That's sad. At this point, I decide I've wasted a hefty chunk of money and want to return it. There are other beds out there that are much better quality for the same amount of money, and I want my money's worth. Well, naturally Amazon wants the bed back. The idea of taking it apart and trying to jam it in a box when it weighs more than I do is discouraging and disappointing. I understand that they want the defective purchase back, but we don't have the materials, time, and patience to tear it all down and ship it back. In addition, the box it arrived in was sent to the trash when we finished putting it together. So we're stuck in a quandary with a piece of junk bed that wasn't worth $50 let alone over $200. I purchased this bed based on the reviews. A lot of people said it was pretty, easy to assemble, and worth the money. Well, I'm sorry to say that has not been my experience. As much as I hate to write a one-star review, I have had no choice. I'm stuck with a purchase that was not worth the money and has completely fallen apart. I'm sorry to have flushed the money down the toilet and seen my family suffer through so much stress with a piece of furniture. ... show more

  • Absolute junk, but got it working.
I've never seen a product have so many bad reviews. But I liked the look, and hoped I'd be one of the lucky ones, and not as picky. When it arrived, the box was banged up to all hell. One of the boards was vary visibly damaged. Luckily, it was directly under where the mattress will be. Assembly was a pain (but I think ikea is too?). The alignment of the screw holes that mount the top panels were misaligned, and I had to drill new wholes. The materials themselves (particle board) are SO cheap I've been treating it like a thin sheet of glass when I moving it around when I'm putting it together. When I put a panel on the top, I walked on it to check the strength. It dipped down so much it almost snapped, had I not stepped off quick. I do like the look, so I'm going ahead and modifying the structure to make it sound. You can see the 2" x 4" struts I put in in the picture. This will definitely make it usable. I HIGHLY recommend doing this, as the cheep boards will almost certainly break, especially if you're doing some romping on your bed. However, if you don't want to go through the hassle of modifications, I HIGHLY recommend skipping this product, because it WILL break. **I also got the matching night stand. That one is a different story. I'm vary satisfied with it for the money. ... show more

  • Don't Waste Your Money
DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!! It's not worth it. What they don't tell you in the description is that all the wood is particle board. It broke before I could even situate by mattress on top. Also, it says it only takes 2 hrs to put together, it took me about 6. The instructions are pictures ONLY, so you have to do a lot of guessing. Some of the pre-drilled holes are missing, and some aren't aligned where they're supposed to be. If they are, it's impossible to figure it out in the instructions. Again, DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I would give it -10 stars. ... show more

  • The biggest waste of money ever.
Color: Gray Oak
Since I probably won't get a reply or a refund on this incredibly useless platform bed, I'm going to leave an honest review of this product. Upon arrival it was in good enough condition, with the exception of some of the greyish toned "wood" pattern peeled and scratched in the corners, it was fine. I spent about two hours putting the bed together (as shown in the instructions) I meticulously screwed it all together making sure I didn't mess anything up. I, being a 130 lb girl and my partner (who only on occasion stays at my place) who is 150 lb... slept on it fine for about a week with no issues. The look, and the convenient drawers were what really sold me. THEN out of nowhere I hear a crack at the bottom four panels near the foot of the bed (where I at the time was sitting getting ready for my day) it literally cracked in half down the center, like the support beams weren't strong enough to support my 130lb butt.... which shouldn't be the case. I look in the drawer (because it's hollow in the middle for the drawers to have space for items and to open and close) and the entire cross beam that supported it was ALSO broken. I avoided that area for about a month and a half making sure I carefully entered and exited the bed. Two weeks go by (a few days ago) and the front pannel that hides the drawers falls to the ground... mind you I was sitting near the head of the bed.... my mattress is a light memory foam so can't be that. Then like clockwork it falls completely apart as I'm trying to fix the pieces by nailing them back in place with wood nails. Nothing can repair it. THEN even the little metal pieces cracked and came off that were supposed to be supporting the slats and keeping them from bending and swaying!!!!! I don't make much money and I work a stressful job... I splurged and got this item for a sense of comfort and it turned into the BIGGEST waste of money/ purchase I've ever made in my life. THREE months.... and this is what happened... ... show more
