Cons: Particle board construction Bottom does not have a veneer face - we mounted it above our couch (for a projector) and so if you look up you can see the ugly particle board. Nothing a little contact paper won't fix though. According to the Parts list, I was short a dowel. But what it doesn't say is that it gives you a couple of extras. So when installing a piece requiring 6 of them, I only put 5 (thinking it would be better to have 5 out of 6 in a spot instead of 2 out of 3). I guess that's why you're supposed to read the instructions beginning to end before starting. Pros : Looks very nice (aside from that bottom piece) I really liked the mounting system - you can't help but get the brackets lined up correctly Pre-Drilled holes of the perfect size for the screws help make up for the particle board construction. Adjustable shelf has cutouts to drop onto the peg so that once in place, it won't accidentally slide forward. Cord access both behind and on top is nice. I have HDMI going through the wall, so the rear cord access was very helpful. Other : It would be nice if the divider between the sections were vented. I use it for a projector, and I have to make sure the projector is far enough away from the edge that it doesn't overhead. I may end up drilling some venting holes. ... show more

Pro - Looks identical to the picture Easy to assemble Very clean looking with more storage that you original think Cons - Pressed particle board with almost a sticker like coating so very cheap material, but what else would you expect for this price point. (Now that doesn't mean it isn't sturdy, just it isn't build with the actual wood/ oak, or whatever like you see. What you see is a printed screen glued to a cheaper pressed board. Mine has already started peeling at the corners which I fixed with some super glue... not worth pulling down and taking all apart just to replace the top board... would probably do even more damage and start more peeling if I did replace that one board. Also, to attach it to the wall, it used a mount that at best will attach to 3 studs, as studs are usually spaced 16 inches on center. But most, like my own while, when you center the mount, it will only attach to 2 studs.. and that is it. Sad part is, they could have made the support longer and maybe got 3 studs and sometimes 4 for more support. The support width is a good big smaller than the width of the wall mounted console. Finally: Looks very nice...very clean... I'm not sure I would buy another at this price point, but wall mounted options are few and far in between...So I would not fault someone or advise them against buying this one....In the future, I would probably buy my own real wood and stain it and build my own exactly the same dimension as this one LOL. ... show more

Overall - A very nice / inexpensive floating entertainment shelf. Putting it together is fairly simple and can be done alone (Instructions recommend 2 people). Sits nicely flush against the wall and has areas to hide cables. Satisfied all the needs I had. I ran all cables from the TV behind the wall into a recessed gang-box. If you marry the bottom gang-box with the Shelf, the wires from the TV will very easily flow right into the box and will never be seen. You end up with a wireless TV / shelf system. Pros - Very Easy to put together - Very Easy to mount on the wall - Feels very sturdy after the final 3 screws are put in - Plenty of room for cables and cable management. There are 3 holes on the piece for cables to come in from the back or bottom and out through the top. The shelves do not take up the entire depth of the unit, so you can hide a power-strip and bunched-wires behind a cable box or other unit. I currently have a cable box, X-Box, and Blue-Ray player in the unit and you cannot see any wires. There is also a center speaker on the top of it with the wires hidden as well. - Shelf height has 3 settings so you can fit a taller piece of equipment if needed. - Side-Shelves are AMAZING. I can place DVD's and Games neatly in the side-shelves and they are basically hidden. Cons - MOST IMPORTANT: STEP 10 OF THE INSTRUCTIONS HAS DAMAGE POTENTIAL. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN HAMMERING PIECES #411 INTO THE A BOARD!!! I read another review that the top can bubble during this step and then I pushed #411 straight through the A-Board. Customer service for South-Shore is AMAZING and they replaced my A-board about a week later!!! REALLY REALLY GREAT CS!!!! But, I recommend gently performing step 10 and making sure you only push piece #411 half-way into board A. - I have a large power-strip inside of the unit. It was difficult to get the circular plug and off-center prong system through the bottom holes while the unit was mounted. Also, most of my cables are long so it was slightly tedious to hid all the cables behind the my cable boxes and other pieces of equipment. After that hard work though, it looks great! - As others stated, it is pressed board wrapped with finish... but it is also not overly expensive so what do you expect? ... show more
