This item is on the lower-cost end of the spectrum for Android Auto-capable head units. The unit's original price (retail, not the inflated MSRP) was reasonable but the "discontinued" price (this model is no longer manufactured) we purchased at made it a fantastic deal. There are double-DIN head units sold all the time in the sub-150.00 price range but those units' touchscreens tend to be terrible. This unit's screen is nicely responsive and adequate resolution for regular radio and backup camera use. Some reviews have stated the sound level output is too low. There is a loudness option in settings that is turned off by default. The unit has a reasonable volume level without it but definitely does better with the option enabled. Android Auto (via USB only) worked flawlessly. The only complaint is that there is only one USB port and it is on the front of the radio so you will always have a wire dangling from the dash if you want to use Android Auto. Installation-wise this radio is true double-DIN with no issues of being "almost double-DIN" as you find with some inexpensive imported units. The unit installed as it should with a normal Metra install kit. Wire colors were all standard and were easily matched with same-colored wires in a Metra wire harness kit. Screen display is plenty bright enough for daytime use. The screen has auto-dimming dimming function based on headlight signal input wire but in our case this resulted in some screen flicker -- likely due to a fluctuating electrical signal from the vehicle. We turned off the auto-dimming function in the radio settings. Without the dimming feature enabled the screen can be overly bright at night but there are multiple brightness level options to choose from in settings. We added an inexpensive backup camera (connected via standard RCA video input) which works very well with the unit. The unit provides an additional connection for a front camera as well as an accessory A/V input (all RCA connections). After several weeks of use I am exceedingly impressed with the unit for the sale/discontinued price and would have been satisfied even at the original, non-discontinued price.

I've had the stereo for almost 3 years. I got it for Apple CarPlay and is one of a few options for under $200, and will fit like an OEM stereo. It's one of a few that has the USB port in the front because I don't like rear mounted wires. It works with Bluetooth, USB flash drives and micro-SD cards. The sound quality is great. Its touch screen is responsive and bright. It is easy to install, but I had it done professionally. It works with high capacity micro-SD cards and flash drives (mine are both 128GB), higher than its claimed 64GB, as other users have pointed out. IMPORTANT: If you have a music library of 4 figures or more, and use a flash drive/micro-SD card, you must have your music split into folders for the system to read all of them. It took me a bit of trial and error over the last few months, but I finally figured it out over the last couple of days. The system has a read limit of 999 base folders, and 999 files per folder. Altogether, that amounts to nearly 1,000,000 songs. The number can be even higher when splitting into sub folders. I grouped the music by file name A-Z (titles starting with numbers have their own folder). Now, the system is showing all my music (a little over 9,700 songs). Because of the amount of music I have, most letters have their own folder, a few have 2 or more letters while still leaving some breathing room to 999. So, I highly recommend this stereo. It's a modern upgrade for great value. I'm writing this review now after almost 3 years because it's still working, and I'm enjoying it more than ever since I figured out how to get it to play all music on my flash drive/micro-SD card.

This is the second time I’ve bought these for use when restoring OBS Chevy trucks. I really like the basic simplicity of these stereos with my only real complaints being it does not come twith the rear view camera itself and I REALLY wish there was a USB port on the backside of these.

I have bought and installed in 4 different vehicles two for myself and two for others. The functionality and quality of these for aftermarket are amazing just need your harness and Bessel then good to go the backup camera will be sold separately but the quality on screen is wonderful. Highly recommended for every day use or even with systems. As it has equalizer function as well apple and google play works great with the proper data cable there very easy to install touch screen Bluetooth as well.

This unit works fantastic for about 2 months. Then the Apple car play stopped working for no reason. The Apple phone was plugged into the device but would not work. After several painful emails and I was able to speak with a tech support. In short the issue was never resolved, we spend hours on the phone and was even escalated. The unit had become worthless to me. I ended up replacing the entire head unit with a Jenson. Soundstream really let me down on this one. Would not even give me a partial refund.
