  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Support, Exceptional Sound, my favorite earbuds, could be better
Color: Midnight Black Size: medium
tldr: Anker support is SUPERB. Excellent sound quality, especially lossless. ANC is very good. Transparency is awesome in the wind, but could improve. Heart rate monitor is stupid, it prevents use of aftermarket tips. Tips in the box may not provide a perfect seal, but Anker will send you more sizes if you ask. You NEED a perfect seal for ANC or Transparency to work properly, these are less forgiving than others. Full review: The affordable lossless wireless earbud is here! And it comes with a nice app with greeat features! I love the detail and sparkle the second driver adds, and it especially helps to make a clear difference when listening to lossless audio with LDAC. I have cheaper Soundpeats buds that use LDAC, but the higher quality drivers in these Soundcore Liberty 4 buds actually allow you to hear the difference. Anker/Soundcore support has been exceptional. None of the included eartips made a perfect seal, so my ANC and Transparency modes didn't work well. The ANC was bloating bass and creating extra bass tones, and the transparency's auto-level was always confused. I wrote the seller, AnkerDirect through Amazon. They responded within the day and immediately sent a collection of tips with additional sizes and some made of a softer silicone with more grip. I found I needed the softer/grippier L2, a Large with a slightly longer nozzle for a deeper fit. This transformed the ANC/Transparency into essential features, as they work very well without EQ shift. Furthermore, the perfect seal provided sub-bass I didn't know I was missing. I enjoyed receiving Soundcore's extra tips. Unfortunately, users of aftermarket tips will be disappointed. If you don't use Anker's tips, the right earbud loses pinch controls and wear detection, because the heartrate sensor is tied to these features. I even tried transarent tips, but they didn't work. I sincerely hope that Anker updates the firmware so you can still use the pinch controls without the heartrate sensor. Anker really left out a lot of earbud enthusiasts with this restriction. Unlike my Lypertec Z5, the Liberty 4 ANC is very sensitive when the seal is even a tiny bit loose for a millisecond. So, when you listen to a lot of bass, a loose seal makes the ANC create extra bass tones. It can take a minute of wiggling and twisting before you find that perfect spot, but they stay there once you find it. Soundcore should work on the ANC's sensitivity to a loose seal. I LOVE the Liberty 4's transparency mode with a good seal. They automatically adjust the ambient sound with surprisingly good results. I live in a windy area, and the Liberty 4 cuts the wind noise out while allowing me to hear cars and people around me. When the wind dies down, the details of the ambient world are automatically brought back. As much as I enjoy this auto-leveling, Soundcore should allow us to have a 'manual transparency mode' as well. Sometimes, the auto-level cuts out too much, and you still have to remove the bud to have a conversation, usually when there's something like a loud refrigerator in the background. Also, sometimes it doesn't amplify your surroundings enough to compete with the music, so a manual mode would ensure better safety when the auto-mode falls short. Pinch controls are good, but could be better. The tiny clicky spot is very small and the click can be hard to feel. I would prefer an actual button. I love that I can change the controls, but I wish there was a long-hold option. Currently, you can single, double, or triple click. It works well, but I hope Anker improves this. The app is overall excellent, but I'm not happy with a couple things. I already mentioned I'd like manually adjustable Transparency. Sony does this, so I hope Soundcore improves this through updates. The ANC adjustment wheel is confusing, as it seems there are only three ANC stages. My biggest problem is that Anker wants you to create an account to get full access to heart-tracking features, and you can't turn off the heart tracker without creating this account. So, this thing is constantly recording data I don't want recorded, and I have to give up more data to disable it. Seems pretty slimy, no matter what promises they make. Whether or not this affects your purchase is your personal choice. Finally, SOUND QUALITY!! Really, this is one of the best earbuds I've heard, very close to my expensive over-ear headphones with a premium amp. The LDAC is strong and reliable, I can genuinely hear the difference when I compare Lossless vs 320kbps recordings of the same song. The "tweeter" driver superbly reproduces all the high-end detail without sounding analytical, and it allows the larger driver to provide punchy, accurate bass and midbass. If you don't like treble or "bright" headphones, you may be irritated by these. I recommend you try them and return if you can't get a sound you like. Once I got the proper tips, comfort is exceptional. The shallow fit oval tips provide an excellent seal without fatigue. They won't fall out, and I sometimes forget I'm wearing them. The case feels nice, but is too bulky. I'd gladly give up some case battery life if I could fit this in my jeans coin pocket, like I can do with SoundPeats or Airpods. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars I'm Too Spoiled By My Liberty Pro 2+
Color: Midnight Black Size: medium
First off from the box these things sounded weird . Horribly weird . That was after dropping them at least 5 times each one from the super strong magnet vs super slick surface of the buds . I knew the factory installed tips were gonna be too small , and they were , so I dropped them another few times while trying to change the tips . Those 2 gripes out of the way comes my very last gripe , NO INDEPENDENT VOLUME CONTROL . It's almost impossible for me to get these volume to my liking using AVC (active volume control that changes volume on device and buds at the same time ) . That being said , once I phenageled for a couple of hours getting the volume right and ANC off , spatial off , firmware updated and LDAC enabled I began to listen to many genres and songs and I must say I'm VERY impressed with the sound quality especially the airyness of everything . I didn't think Soundcore could better the realism of musical instruments and voices when they got away from the Knowles coaxial architecture but they sure did but the mess of a stock curve they processed into the sound took quite a bit to equalize out . I'm glad I took the time . I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the Active Noise Cancellation has been while disappointed very slightly in the Transparent modes. Media reviewers warned it wasn't all that great and they were correct on the pass through . These things are so light and comfortable I keep forgetting I'm wearing them when I'm reading my Kindle and the music stops . That much blows away my LP2+s by a lot . The surround sound stuff was pretty cool when watching a video but sucked horribly when trying to listen to music , no matter the mode. The heart rate sensor was a couple of beats behind the other devices I was using as a benchmark but close enough to think they're pretty cool but I still turned out off . If you see me running try and catch up as there's something terribly bad about to happen so I'll never use that feature in the wellness area but I will check out a few walking sessions to see how they compare to my S Health and Galaxy Watch 4 . It did get correct that I was stressed pretty good while trying in futility to find a solution to the master volume control thing . I also turned that off in privacy settings of the wellness area of the app . The squeeze controls took about 30 seconds to customize and about 2 minutes to adjust the squeeze strength needed as they take about 10 seconds to take effect with each adjustment . From the box they were set to normal and I actually prefer the next lighter touch choice (soft). Those that complained in reviews of it taking 3+ seconds for music to pause when a bud is removed must have had old firmware as it's under a second to pause and eye blink quick to start back when I said bud back into my ear . These buds are definitely not for the sound purist but for the rest of us they sound great , have good (LDAC uses a bit more battery but is worth it to me ) battery life . I have a silicone cover coming from Amazon that I'm sure will help some with my slippage issues until I get used to how strong the magnets are . Maybe a firmware update in the future will add individual volume control like most off their prior models offer . If they do I'll come bad and add that 5th star . Until then I'll continue to be blown away by Propellerheads , Alan Parsons Live ,Colbie Calliot , Kristen Stanfill , etc while using these things . Edit. While using these in ANC normal mode while cutting grass I noticed the bass was much more intense , getting up there with the LP2+s . When I got done I forgot I had them in ANC mode but noticed the bass being more intense while not losing any of the other flavors of sound I so appreciate with these things . ANC off brought bank a slightly disappointing low end bass in LDAC so I'll just take the battery hit . All told I got a little over 4 hours before the low battery prompt with both on the entire time . Spinfit 360s fit these buds while also keeping the ability to use the heart rate sensor . I got them on Amazon in XL because the Ls were not quite as tight fitting as I sought . When I first used them they didn't enhance the bass at all but did block a bit more noise without using ANC mode. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best
Color: Midnight Black Size: medium
I have to say I went through several pairs of earbuds the past years giving up on most due to sound, fit battery ease of operation. I had Bose, Apple, beats Jabra Samsung and a few generic. These SoundCore after over a month of everyday use have been impressive. The fit are perfect for me with the standard rubber piece that come already on them. They include other sizes for smaller ears or larger. The are low profile and hug your earlobe. The fit is tight and I have not had one come out at all. They are super comfortable I don’t even know they are in unlike most where your ear starts getting sore. The app help you get the best sound when doing the test where other just have standard settings. I work in a warehouse and only where one at a time and the sound is so good i never have the volume all the way up like others I had too. The battery life is one of the best I have had yet. I lister to morning radio on an app and podcasts or music the rest of my day. I have had up to 9hrs of listening before the voice says battery low. Noise cancellation is really good I used it a few times when I had bothered in and other make it feel like your ears need to pop. Not these it blocks out all the sound and no pressure feeling. I used transparency mode a few times the sound is still good with what you are listening to and you can still hear the background sounds good without having to turn the volume up to hear your music. The one button one the side of the stem was a perfect place to put it. It’s easy to use and custom in the app on what you want it to control. No more tapping or pushing on your ear to change a song or volume. I do recommend these especially if you are like me and had some of these issues with others. It’s worth the try. Really happy with these. ... show more
