  • A decent, if not particularly powerful speaker for a variety of uses.
This was my first soundbar, and so perhaps my expectations were a bit too grandiose. I think I was expecting something on par with a much larger soundbar and something one would see in a wall of TVs at your local Best Buy. Given the size and power of this particular bar, it's not surprising that the sound coming from it was not deafening, even at the loudest level. Not that I want to deafen myself of course, but we have central AC that when it kicks in, produces a fair amount of background noise, and while this was easily able to overcome that, I was still able to hear it in the background. We have a rather small TV given today's monstrosities - only 32 inches - so this soundbar is actually a very appropriate size for that size of screen. A much larger screen would probably include speakers that wouldn't be that much less powerful than this soundbar, so if your only purpose for this will be for TV-watching and you have a 50+ inch screen, and/or you have a fairly large TV room and sit somewhat far from your screen, you might consider something a little more powerful. That being said, for our TV, this was a big upgrade in sound quality if not in volume. I would say the volume possibly got a 25-50% boost, so nothing earth-shattering, but still a good upgrade. In terms of quality, this has a much more natural sound, deeper bass, etc. The soundbar comes with a myriad way of connecting it to a TV or really any device, including a digital optical cable, which I used, an analog 3.5mm auxiliary audio cable, USB port and an HDMI port. I didn't even realize it had an HDMI port initially since it's kind of hidden on the side of the input area (see photo). Because of this placement, it also can make it a little awkward to plug in some HDMI cables. The one I had didn't really fit because it has some padding on the outer edges that get in the way of the sides of the little recess that holds all the input ports. The interface is easy enough to figure out without instructions, and you can control some, but not all, by some buttons on the side of the bar (see photo), including the input mode, power, and volume. It would be nice if there was some kind of auto-sensing feature for which input you wanted to use, but I suppose that might be hard if you had multiple inputs that were producing some sound. The other thing that's a bit odd is that the increase volume (+) button is on the bottom and the lower volumen (-) button is above it, which seems like it should be reversed. For other features, you have to use the remote, which is a pain because I don't want to have to manage yet another remote, but oh well. So, in order to turn on or off Bluetooth mode or change the EQ settings, you need the remote, which requires two AAA batteries, which unfortunately were not included. Bluetooth paired with my phone quickly and allows for a very nice and powerful Bluetooth speaker for music, audiobooks, or even phone calls, although I haven't tried calling anyone yet. As for the EQ settings, It includes 3 different ones - for Movies, Music, and Games. There's no information on how these differ in terms of bass, treble, etc., and changing it on the fly while watching a movie I could not discern any difference. The front of the soundbar has a blue set of LED's that indicate if the unit has turned on or off, or what input mode it's been put in (see photo), or the volume number. Oddly enough, the volume doesn't just go to 10, or even 11, but 16, which makes me wonder if this was designed by a programmer who likes the hexidecimal number system, or if there is something a little off with my unit? The LED on the front only lights up for a few seconds after you make a change, which is good so that it's not distracting you if you're using it right next to a TV you're watching. In addition to the LED, you get an audible (female) voice when you turn the speaker on or off, or when switching to different input modes, including Bluetooth. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to configure either the LED or the audible prompts - to turn them off, make them louder/softer, keep the LED on longer, etc. The soundbar also contains holes where nails or hooks that you would fasten to the wall would then hold the soundbar in place. We were ok placing it on a cabinet that our TV sits on, and given that you need to also run the power cable and probably one of the input cables to the TV, it's probably easier to simply put it in front of TV on a similar surface unless you have the tools to get fancy with snaking wires into the wall, or you don't mind having those wires coming down from your soundbar to where your TV and power outlet are. By the way, the power cord is only about 4 feet in length, so depending on where your outlet is, this might make an extension cord necessary. While this is a decent product, it does seem to be a bit pricier than others for the same power output and it seems you can find more powerful ones for a similar price, or just another $5-10, so while this will certainly work for many, it may be worth it to shop around a little before settling on this particular unit at the current price. ... show more

  • Look elsewhere
The media could not be loaded. I got this to replace a very old speaker system on my computer. I cannot find anything good to say about this soundbar. I should have tried it out before going through the trouble of hanging it on the wall. Bluetooth will not stay connected as you can see in the video. My other Bluetooth devices that are connected to my computer have no problems. I turned all of my Bluetooth devices off to see if one of them was interfering with the connection of the soundbar. The soundbar still had problems staying connected. I used the auxiliary cable as you can see in the video the sound was still bad. I removed from the wall and attached it to my TV using the HDMI cable and sound was not good at all on my TV. There is no point in having this soundbar when your TV puts out better sound than it does. ... show more

  • Good but not great sound quality.
I got this for our "theater room" where we have our projector to watch movies on the large 100" projector screen, but the projector sound is poor so I sought out to find a decent sound bar and came across this one. The price is quite affordable, so I didn't have super high expectations. We do have a LG sound bar for our main living room TV that is AWESOME, well this one is just OK. I couldn't figure out how to connect the blue tooth to both my phone and the projector so I moved the sound bar behind out projector, which is fine, and connected the AUX sound cable (I think thats what its called - that connects to the sound/microphone thing in the projector). The sound doesn't get as loud as we would've hoped but it is MUCH better than the projector speakers. It does work just fine, its just not excellent sound quality. ... show more

  • Good quality for the price
This is the first sound bar I've ever tried out, so I can't compare it to others, but I can say it's a definite upgrade from the standard speakers on a Vizio flatscreen. If you're looking for something to upgrade, but not break the wallet, this will do the trick. The sound quality is good: clear highs and mids, though it does lack a little in the lower end. It doesn't come with a subwoofer, so that's to be expected, to a degree. It does come with an optical cable, which is nice, but it would have been a little better if it also came with an HDMI cable capable of handling ARC, so you don't necessarily need to keep the remote handy. Still, that's a minor issue, easily fixed. The bluetooth pairing is a nice touch, and it's freed up the small, more portable bluetooth speaker I've been using for streaming music from other devices. All in all, it's been a nice upgrade, though it's not going to satisfy audiophiles. If you just need an upgrade from the standard speakers, that won't break the bank, though, this definitely fills that role nicely. ... show more
