Took a gamble on this reel for my musky and monster catfish missions, and it delivered. No fancy series numbers—just AS1400—but heavy duty and built like it means business. Not put to use yet but based on the solid feel ,smooth balanced reeling action i am impressed, these reels at 14000 size are big and heavy but that's a none issue with surf ,and river monster fishing IMO . Should be little issue getting 500 yards of 20 lbs equivalent braid on the spool

I picked up this Sogayilang Surf Spinning Reel size 14,000 reel because I needed a saltwater reel with a handle long enough and a knob thick enough to pull weighted crab snares out of the water and up to the pier railing with multiple dungeness crab snared. I have several other smaller reels that would seize up under the weight or the knob was so small I was pinching it while trying to forcefully reel in the weight which was very uncomfortable. This reel has great leverage and a larger/longer knob which is great for crab snaring with a 5oz weighted snare but the knob is still thinner than I'd like for reeling in my 24" collapsible crab trap with 6oz weight, bait, and 4 or 5 crab. First thing - this size 14,000 real is huge and heavier than a lot of reels out there. The build is great so far. I crabbed for 6 hours, reeling in about every 6 minutes catching a lot of crab and about 3 doubles and hauled them up into the air, not just dragging them up a beach. It held up well to the stress I put on it. It has a drag adjustment and an anti-reverse switch. It comes with 2 spools. The aluminum one holds a lot of line. The black plastic one is much shallower so I think its best for braided line. Next, it has an instant anti-reverse one way clutch built into it which I love. It also has a "direct drive" (just reeling tightens it), reversible handle for left or right hand reeling. Function: Realing was consistent, with no siezing up, the handle did not wobble or loosen up (it tightens with use), and the knob stayed firmly attached while reeling in up to 2 medium sized dungeness crabs. With my 24" collapsible trap and holding up to 4 crab, it was very hard to crank once the trap and crab were in the air and no longer floating in the water because the knob wasn't thick enough to get maximum leverage, however most of my reels would have seized up under this kind of weight and I'd have had to pull the line/trap up by hand. The anti-reverse one way clutch is awesome, I do alot of jigging so I really dislike reels that have to spin backwards before locking. Another thing that really impressed me was how evenly my 65lb braid line lays on the spool. I filled it up right to the egde of the spool using the last of some new line thinking that I'd test it out and cut away anyline that "bird nested" and I'd end up with a nice full spool that would cast without birds nesting. I crabbed 6 hours and you can see by the picture that the spool is still full clear out to the edge (it is not normally ideal to fill a spool to the edge) and the braid is even from the top to the bottom after a day of casting and reeling in a lot of weight and I didn't have a single bird's nest. I am impressed! All in all, it think this reel is big, stout, and offers a lot of leverage for reeling in heavy catch. The anti-reverse clutch is awesome and the way it lays down my 65lb braid is excellent. The knob is a bit thinner than ideal and if it were thicker the reel would be able to reach its full potential for leverage. This reel is also heavy so its better for bottom fishing and less suitable for jigging. I think this reel is best suited for crab snaring from piers with a smaller crab snare like my 5oz weighted one and could also be used for dragging bigger fish or dragging even heavier colapsible crab traps up the beach.
