This one gets 5 stars out of the box for the sheer fact it is a great looking and feeling reel for under $30. Like most baitcasting reels these days this is on a small frame but it's buttery smooth and loaded with ball bearings. All the actions are crisp and smooth with no slop or poor tolerances. It's got many of the features I look for in a quality reel -- large handle, keeper screws holding things in place, fast retrieve ratio (7.6:1), nice crisp break of the spool release, although, also like many baitcasters today the space between the spool is barely enough to get your thumb in there. Might be too small for guys with sausage fingers. The interior spool drag adjustment knob moves with clicks rather than with just a twist - so it would be possible to adjust it to a precision level. (This is the adjustment for your free spool as you are casting.) There also seems to be a second adjustment dial under the reel. I replaced my trusty old (20 y/o) bait-casting reel with this new one and found the old one, while serviceable, was a coffee grinder in comparison. This new rig cast twice as far with less effort and was easy to control. Sometimes you just don't realize how clunky your old equipment is. And, with the high gear ratio, it retrieves lures like spinner baits and spoons much faster. They advertise an "alarm" when the fish takes line from the spool, but this seems to be just a soft clicking sound. Really not helpful if you're fishing lures rather than bait. Regardless, at less than $30 this reel is a no-brainer if you are a baitcasting angler.

I haven’t had a chance to get this reel out on the water yet, but after getting it spooled up and spending some time handling it, my first impressions are pretty good. The biggest thing that stood out to me was how smooth the retrieve feels. The gears turn smoothly with no grinding or rough spots, and overall it feels more refined than I was expecting at this price point. The reel also seems well made. I’ve handled plenty of budget reels from big box stores over the years, and honestly this feels nicer than some of the name-brand options I’ve picked up at Walmart in the same price range. Fit and finish look good, the handle feels solid, and there doesn’t seem to be excessive play in the components. Of course, the real test will be how it performs after a season of chasing largemouth bass, but based on my initial impressions I’m excited to get it on a rod and see what it can do this summer.

I am incredibly impressed with the Sougayilang F1 Baitcasting Reel. For a versatile lightweight, low-profile reel, it packs a serious punch and performs like a much more expensive piece of gear. Pros: Super Fast & Smooth: The 7.6:1 gear ratio is perfect for burning lures or pulling fish out of heavy cover quickly. Thanks to the 5+1 stainless steel bearings, the retrieval is butter-smooth. The Drag Alarm: The 5th generation drag alarm system is a game-changer. Having a distinct clicking sound on a baitcaster when a fish pulls line makes the fight so much more exciting and helps you manage the 18lbs of max drag perfectly. Excellent Brake System: The magnetic braking system is highly adjustable and dialed in easily. Once set up correctly for my lure weight, I experienced virtually zero backlashes, even when casting into a slight breeze. Comfort & Ergonomics: It feels incredibly lightweight in the hand and sits low on the rod, making it comfortable to cast all day without wrist fatigue. It handles freshwater bass and trout fishing beautifully. If you're looking for a smooth, high-speed baitcaster with a built-in drag clicker that won't break the bank, this is a phenomenal choice. Let me start by saying I have not fished this reel yet and I’m doing a review based on the initial impressions of this reel. I will be editing and updating this review once I’ve fished this reel. And either adding or subtracting the star rating as needed First impression was that this reel is smaller than it looks in the product photos. However it is pretty solid feeling in hand and does not seem to have any slop you would expect from a cheap casting reel. It’s not gona be a big swim bait reel, but it feels like it will be a great finesse reel for small to mid size baits. It’s a faster gear ratio so cranks and spinners will work well with it, but it honestly feels more of a Texas rig /dropshot presentation reel than a big bait reel. I will say that because it’s small it paired up nicely on my 7ft. MH Berkeley lightning rod and actually feels really nice in hand on that rod. I know a lot of guys who like to palm their bait caster reels while fishing, and this actually works great for that ( size wise) I’ll be using this reel in the next couple days and will definitely update on how it actually fishes, but so far it seems like a good deal for a lower price point and could be a great reel for someone who is just getting into either baitcast reels or fishing without breaking the bank

Through the Amazon Vine program, I received the Sougayilang F1 Baitcasting Reel, and after checking it out and putting it through its paces, I came away impressed with what this reel offers for the money. First, I always like to point out that reviews are subjective—what impresses me might seem average to someone else. Most of my ratings are four stars when a product works as expected but isn't anything particularly special. For a five-star rating, a product has to truly stand out. In the end, this is just my opinion—your experience may vary. The first thing that caught my eye was the purple accenting. 💜 It's a nice change from the endless sea of black reels on the market and gives the reel a unique appearance without looking flashy or cheap. Performance-wise, everything worked exactly as described. The reel feels comfortable in the hand, and its lightweight design makes it easy to fish with for extended periods. The oversized EVA handle knobs provide a secure grip, and the reel feels balanced on the rod. 🎣 The 7.6:1 gear ratio retrieves line quickly, making it a good choice for a variety of freshwater applications. The 5+1 stainless steel bearing system delivers smooth operation, and I found both casting and retrieving to be consistent and trouble-free. One feature newer anglers will appreciate is the adjustable magnetic braking system. With multiple brake settings available, it helps reduce backlashes and makes learning to use a baitcaster less frustrating. 👍 The anti-backlash system performed well and helped keep casts under control. I would have no problem recommending it to budget-conscious anglers or anyone looking to add another reel to their fishing lineup.

Pros Very smooth action to it, bearings feel good and slick. Lots of adjustability for drag and different line setups, great for different types of rod setups. As long as you got your drag set right it doesnt backlash, the magnetic catch system works pretty well. Really good value, feels and functions like a high end reel for a great price. Good size and feel in my hands, super light build. Overall great reel. Feels good in the hands and casts well. Would love some different color schemes for it but thats about it. I would definitely reccomend it.

Fantastically priced reel for the quality and options. Sougayilang has produced another reel that I love. This one is very comfortable to use and fits perfectly in my palm. It has a fast 7.6:1 gear ration which is super smooth even if it has just a 5+1 bearing system. The handle knobs are slightly oversized for easy cranking, the tensioner knob sets precise with audible clicks, the braking system works flawlessly when set for your personal casting style, and I love that the drag has an audible clicker as well. This is also one really good-looking reel. I spooled this with 20lb 8x braid and paired it with a 7'2" Med/Fast action Sougayilang rod and it makes a great combo.

Baitcasters have gotten expensive, making the price on this one its most attractive feature. That said, the build is only fair. It is lightweight but feels like plastic. There are 5+1 ball bearings, which is only a fair number these days. It is fairly smooth, though, and I like the handle. The 7.6:1 gear ratio is very nice. Overall an average reel at a great price.
