We recently moved into our new home that has a HUGE deck on the back with newly painted railings. I wasn't excited about putting nails all the way around when my husband wanted to put up Christmas lights on the back deck, so I searched for another solution and found THESE! He wasn't so sure that these would actually work, but they were perfect for the rail! They are a tight fit, but I'm actually glad because they keep the lights where they should be. We also didn't need as many as first thought - a few go a long way, so the pack of 50 will last for a very long time. Highly recommend!

First - let me thank someone from a previous comment. Gave me confidence to install solar lights on the pool screen enclosure. Didn't want to drill and didn't want to use an adhesive backed clips. The comment I read mentioned that these clips can be put into place simply by using needle nose pliers. It was a very informative post. Pool screen supports where lights were to be located are approx 2" and positioned horizontally. Took me a total of 30 minutes (even with a learning curve) to position 30 lights and two solar panels on the posts. Very satisfied with the results. Best feature is - I can remove them and re-locate them as needed with very little effort.

Was not possible to open wide enough to fit on the railing of a wrought iron deck. Luckily the railing has decorative loops, which they did fit on. Otherwise would have been useless. As is, they don’t look great, but they do hold. Would probably have had a more attractive, secure, and less expensive result just using color-coordinated zip ties.

I tried multiple types of clips and was about ready to start hammering nails into our new house. I needed it for my 1.5-2" wooden eaves. The clips work and are secure. With that said, it was not the easiest thing to put them on. You really have to stretch them before puting onto eave. I'll use them again next year.

I have used sticky clips in the past on the metal but they lose their stickiness and you have to buy again. These clips can be expanded to fit on a two-inch frame and they hold great. Also, you can remove them and put up again next year (at no additional cost). My suggestion, if you are going to use on a two-inch frame is to hold the top of the clip on the frame and then use needle-nose pliers to stretch and clip to the bottom of the frame. It is next to impossible to use just your hands to do this. If you do not need to expand that much you can just push them on with your hands.
