These are the newer version Supreme Pro X "ears" by Sordin. They have the updated 4:1 audio amplification system and a 25 dB noise reduction. For years I used Howard Leight hearing protectors and was satisfied with them, but the Sordin's are a whole level of comfort above those. I do really like the gel ear cups and it's nice that they are user replaceable. The units come with a 5 year warranty. I did have some initial trouble getting them to work, I discovered that the battery spring on the battery compartment end cap needed to be stretched a bit in order for it to make good electrical contact. Be careful if you stretch that spring, it can be dislodged so exercise caution if you need to do that. Some other reviewers have stated that theirs were DOA - I suspect those units may have had the same spring issue that mine did and likely could have been resolved by the users if they'd known to look at that. The battery compartment is a little strange in that you have to get the first battery inserted and then pushed down into the compartment but it can be done easily with a little patience. I had no trouble either installing them or removing them by simply following the supplied instructions. The active audio amplification is outstanding, much better than anything I've had in the past. I do have to say that my old Howard Leight's had a faster reaction time to impulse noise, about 0.5 milliseconds - no one else's active product even comes close to that and still doesn't so far as I know, including the Sordin's. ... show more

Had to do a lot of research, but finally found muffs not made in China. I wear hearing aids and can wear these muffs over my aids with no feedback. Great product.

    • Most comfortable ear pro I have ever used.
If you're looking for a headset that makes you forget that you're wearing ear pro, these are an excellent choice. The gel cups are really comfortable and the sound dampening is quite accurate. There is even a 3.5mm jack that you can use to plug in your phone if you're a nerd like me (although you will be disappointed by the bass). One slight annoyance is that the battery installation and removal process actually sucks pretty bad. A tool, like a pencil or chopstick, is required for battery installation. Battery removal is basically a lottery. The only thing that makes up for this is the extremely long advertised battery life. I have so far gotten quite a few hours out of my headset, but not long enough to really stretch the battery life. Overall an excellent (and quite luxurious) ear pro experience.     • excellent hearing protection for handgun, but borderline for long gun.
I've used peltors for years and like them. my only complaint about them is that they were too bulky for me when shooting rifle, so I had to use ear plugs instead. these sordins are better in that respect; however, I find that shooting something like .308, the blast can get uncomfortable. so, yes, the sordins are superb over-ear protection for handgun, but I still use in-ear plugs for centerfire rifle and shotgun. as for comfort, I see no real difference between the sordins and the peltors. if the price of the sordins is a problem for you, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, less expensive brand, as there are lots of excellent alternatives. ... show more

    • Can Get Better Suppression for Less
These are well made and comfotrtable and although it is a bit tricky to change the batterires that part is really not the deal breaker. I have a pair of Walker Quads that I have used for years when shooting and for a fraction of the price I believe that the Walkers outperform these Sordins. The noise reduction was not as good as I would have hoped for and I expected more from them! ... show more
