The Fire Alarm system in our home is INSANELY LOUD...like, my ears hurt long after it is shut off and I feel like I am at the bottom of a well listening to hollow voices that are, in reality, like 6 feet away from me. Our house was built 110 years ago and, while it is absolutely gorgeous woodwork, it is ALL wood everywhere. So we have an extremely sensitive smoke detector/electrical wall fire system. When it goes off, I have to wrangle my cat into his carrier while I quickly and painfully suffer the noise...that is, UNTIL I BOUGHT THESE! #1. Muffles all sounds to a comfortable and muted level. #2. Will fit everyone. When they are folded up like in photo, they look tiny, but they expand to fit all but the hugest of heads. 3. I purchased a pink and a purple one for my girls for race day. Fit them both at 4yo and able to adjust to fit my head as well! Very please with the significant sound loss and they both felt comfortable as well. Should be perfect for race day!

I've used the ear muffs for more than a week now and I'm very satisfied. I'm in a rehab recovering after a critical illness, and the hallway sounds, my roommate's TV (she's deaf--'nuff said) and loud conversations were driving me to the edge. With the protectors, I can hear some muffled sounds, depending on the pitch, but not enough to seriously compromise the results. I have extremely sensitive hearing, so I'm guessing others may not hear anything at all. I even fell asleep for a few hours with them on yesterday. No pressure points, they are generously padded. The set is made for children and adults. I was a little uneasy about that, I'm very much an adult. But they are comfortably snug and fit well, way better than my pricey Sony headset for my computer. I'm surprised at the quality for such a reasonable price and feel okay about recommending them. ... show more

I have to say I was really excited for these to come in the mail. I loved the color and once I got it out of the box and felt the material that goes on the ear they felt really soft. I have an extremely small head and these surpringly fit. (I am an adult incase anyone is wondering.) I'm extremely sound sensitive and a Dr of mine said one of there clients really liked this- for the money I was shocked and had to check them out. I put them on--abd they felt like heaven to my ears. Very comfortable. I decided to put on music on my phone from a game that I'm constantly playing---called pokemon. Once I turned up the volume to the game the noise canceling ear muffs seemed like it was trying there best to mute it out. Unfortunately it sounded muffled but the noise still was intense and obnoxious. After I turned off the sound my ears felt like it was literally vibrating and I was getting a migraine. They may work if your strolling outside or if you don't need something thats so blocking these may work for you and your kid. I dont knkw how they are outside I have yet to try them. I was disappointed for the price and color I so happy. But can u blame something so inexpensive to 100% do the trick. I just wouldn't say to consumers noise canceling because true noise canceling is a product like boss. But you also get what you pay for. You can't expect the highest of quality when your paying so little. Becuase ive had a concussion I am super sensitive to sound and these just didn't do it for me the way I expected them to.
