  • Actually plug-and-play, actually great functionality
Why all the 'actually'? Well, so often when you buy something, the shiny ads claim it does everything but bring you breakfast in bed, whereas in fact it takes hours of downloading extra drivers, giving up any right to privacy you may've thought you had, and acknowledging that the days of pigeon post were simpler. These showed up, required a brief charge, one app to be put on my phone that didn't want me to give up my location, my contacts, my home address, and my mother's maiden name, and then paired without argument. The case is practical and well-designed, the headphones themselves are comfortable and give me excellent sound-quality, and the noise-cancelling, while obviously not equal to full over-ear headsets, is extremely good. I've also not yet managed to run them out of battery, so I'm going to give them an enthusiastic thumbs-up on battery life as well. All in all, I'm very happy with these - they do exactly what they say on the packet with a minimum of fuss. ... show more

  • The good- These were legit the most comfortable best sealing earbuds I have ever worn
I was really excited for these. Unfortunately they only worked for 2 days before the right earbud refused to charge. It will blink red in the case without charging, I have tried all reset options, sony customer service says to send them in. The good- These were legit the most comfortable best sealing earbuds I have ever worn. So easy to wear and comfortable over time. I absolutely love the way they retain in the ear. Noise cancelling seemed to work fine. Could definitely notice on and off. The bad- Well, they stopped working on day 3. Unlike other reviewers, I found the sound to be atrocious at first, then i selected the "prioritize sound quality" button in the sony app, and this helped alot. then after that, the sound was just ok, the bass is way over-done, and the eq can't be custom edited, i think "vocal" was the best one I found, but they seemed to either select for max bass, or no bass, and i found most to sound a little muddy across the mids. as others mentioned, i didn't like using only the left channel for phone calls. I will mention I am coming for sennheiser momentum around the neck style and they are known for clarity and separation, so.. grain of salt about sound quality. I will update this if there is a reason to. ... show more

  • Battery Life Not as Advertised
I have owned these for about 2 months. The sound quality is very good. Their ability to stay firmly secure in your ears is very good. Noise canceling experiences have not resulted in very good results, although I have not used them on a plane. The battery life is very mediocre. I have gotten two hours of performance at best (Sony claims three hours). The charging case loses charge over time, so you have to frequently recharge even if it has not been used to recharge the headphones. This has been a very disappointing purchase. ... show more

  • Better design/ergonomics than Bose SoundSport Free but worse overall.
I really wanted to like these wireless earbuds but in the end I just couldn't. I ended up returning them and getting the Bose SoundSport wireless earbuds which are about the same price but better overall. Here's my comparison: Good: - Great ergonomics/design. Sony was the original leader and trend setter in electronics design, decades before Apple came on the scene to steal the crown. These earbuds are fantastically designed. They just slip into your ear canal (with the right size ear adapter) and the weight of the earbud is perfectly weighted and designed so that you don't feel like something heavy is hanging out of your ear. It's also not that noticeable when in your ear. The Bose feel slightly awkward in the ear as they do hang out rather than along the ear and it takes some adjustment to make them feel comfortable and stable in my ears. Bad: - Uncomfortable! Sadly, the Sony's ergonomic superiority may be due to the use of a hard plastic tube that is surrounded by a flexible and soft yet thin material that just slides in your ear for a secure fit but is almost instantly uncomfortable because of that hard plastic tube. The Bose's earpiece lacks a hard plastic tube inside the soft earpiece and is completely comfortable, at the cost of the stable and secure feel of the Sony. - Each earbud (left and right) needs to be turned on separately! Absurd but you actually have to turn on each earbud in order to get sound from both. Both sides of the Bose turn on and connect when the power (which is on the left earbud) is turned on. Bose wins this one too. - Carryng/charging case is poorly designed. In the Sony, you really have to rotate the flexible ear piece to get it to sit properly in the case. It just doesn't fit with the earpiece in the orientation it needs to be to fit in your ear. I found this to be very disappointing and baffling. Also, the case is cheaper looking/feeling with an odd rotating lid. Bose wins here too. Other features like sound quality, pairing, battery life, etc. seemed similar to me and/or were not evaluated/compared in depth. So, overall the Bose is the hands down winner even though I wanted to like and keep the Sony (which I bought first and only got the Bose after I realized I needed to return the Sonys). Interestingly, I also bought a wired version (left and right earbuds are connected by a wire) of earbuds from Sony a year ago before returning it for the wired version of the Bose SoundSport for mostly the same reasons. Hopefully Sony will address the problems with their wireless earbuds so that they can have an actual competitor to the Bose SoundSport Free. ... show more

  • awesome headset
These are great, the sound quality is amazing, having a noise cancelation and ambient is extremely convenient. I was close to a jet engine one day when working out and when everyone (even those with other headsets) stopped working out to cover their ears, I just turned on the noise cancelation and it was no louder than if someone was next to me humming so I could easily continue working out listening to my music. I have 2 CONS with this tho. 1) the white plastic look of them remind me of airline plastic, like the storage bins (but the style of the earbuds are perfect for me) and 2) when in the storage/battery case, sometimes you might shale them a little when walking knocking one off the charging lead turning one or both on using battery and you don't even notice (they cant fall out of the case the way the lid closes) but if you just mostly keep the case on a table/desk or check every now and then you are good to go. highly recommend these ... show more
