I received a renewed set of earbuds which came in mint condition, minus the factory box, but with all the accessories included. Works fine like new. Download the Sound Connect app and follow the setup prompts. Initially the bass was weak, even with bass boost on. Use the best fit foam ear tips, then try the Find Your Equalizer tool. Pick which sounds match the right soundstage to tune the EQ to your preference. This seems to help, you can also manually adjust EQ. Pairing is simple, just remember to turn off other BT devices if they won't pair, too many connections can cause problems with any BT pairing hookup. Once paired, sound is solid from any source. Dont forget to register your product warranty with Sony, take a screenshot of your invoice page as proof of purchase and submit it. ... show more

The packaging wasn't great, but the earbuds are amazing! At first when I used them they sounded terrible and were having some sort of syncing issue with each other and was worried I got a faulty product. After messing with the app for a little (switching the buds to prioritize sound quality, switching off multi device pairing, turning the up scaler on) they started work more as expected. They are the best earbuds I've ever experienced. Sound quality is excellent. Noise canceling is superb. The longevity of the earbuds is unknown as of now but Im loving them right now ... show more

Further edit, cutting score again since it has a continuous issue where sound quality degrades after 2-3 hours on W10. Slowly gets glitchier and glitchier. Some sort of buffer issue in the firmware, probably. Not something I've encountered with any of several other wireless earbuds I've tried. Edit: Leaving the lower part of the review up in case anyone is having a similar problem with them. The inner fit is everything. Turned out I just needed to get third party XL sized earbud tips in order to get a good airtight seal, which let the ANC actually perform. With that solved, they perform pretty much on par with the XM4s, but are much lighter and easier to wear. Old review: Ok performance for an ANC earbud, but is it worth the price? Well, its ANC is significantly worse than its older sibling, the XM4. It seems to do best at blocking in the 100-400Hz range, but has the most woefully poor low bass blocking I've ever heard, even for budget ANC earbuds. Sound quality is alright, but not enough to warrant the price tag. Overall, not worth it. ... show more

First, my disclaimer. I did purchase a refurbished unit as I did not want to spend $320 for new earbuds. Nevertheless, these were still not cheap. My previous ear buds (EarFun Air Pro 4) had died after about 6 months of medium use (2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours). I did not get any response from their customer service and decided to try a different brand. For the time they worked, I did like the EarFun Air Pro unit ... though the ear foam inserts were not truly ideal for my ears. Nevertheless, they performed well and were only $65. After looking an the options, wireless charging was a must ... which did not leave many choices to select from. I ordered the Bose Quiet Comfort and these Sony units to try and determine which one was best. Best for audio, Best for Noise Cancelling and best for fit. The Sony units did not fit my ear well. I needed an intermediate size that did not com with the unit. For me, that is OK ... IF ... the sound was good. I could always purchase replacement rubber foams. Unfortunately, the sound on this unit was just downright atrocious. Maybe it is because the unit was refurbished, maybe that is how it was designed. At this point, I am simply disappointed and have already packaged it for return one hour after receiving it. Maybe a new unit works better. Noise cancelling is terrible without a good fit and mediocre with. The sound quality in a quiet area is excellent while the noise cancelling worked well for anyone I called. Everyone could hear me clearly without hearing any street noise like sirens or honking. Sadly, I could hear all the street noise. Once I gave up on finding a snug fit and chose smaller earpieces these were comfortable for extensive periods of time. Would not recommend for commuting. ... show more

HOW TO PAIR: - place earbuds in case - open the lid of the case - hold the button on the back of the case until your device recognizes WF-1000XM5 Seller: - great value for a refurbished product, earbuds appeared to be brand new - I paid $184 plus shipping from the seller "Electronics Basket" - quick shipping, arrived within 3 days Comparisons to the older WF-XM3 model: - sound and noise cancelling are similar, maybe a bit improved - the size of the case and earbuds is greatly reduced, which I find very convenient - case battery life is shorter - can be set up for location tracking if they get lost - able to connect to two devices at once. The feature has been pretty reliable, but occasionally autoplays media. I haven't found a way to disable that.
