Great camera. Does it take better photos than your phone. Yes, it does. There's a large sensor. The camera has most all of the professional controls, such as aperture, speed, manual, etc. This ain't no point and shoot. The price will tell you that. The grip thing sold here, you can probably do without. For me the battery can last all day. Obviously your mileage may vary. If you buy an external charger, it will probably come with an extra battery or two

Good camera if it works

Photos are really nice, controls are pretty easy to get the hang of and the menus aren'ttoo bad to navigate with. The products were packed well and arrived in perfect condition, so no problems with the seller. However, the camera's auto focused stopped working before I got to 40 photos. Now it will turn on, open the lense, and then close it again. It displays a message to turn it off and back on again, and briefly shows a message, "C 32:60" From the quick bit of research I've done this means the autofocus is actually broken and the camera can not function anymore. I'm going to assume I'm just unlucky and got a lemon, but it does seem to be a common enough issue within this whole line of cameras that you don'thave to look long to find it. I'm going to contact Sony and see how that goes, for now just three stars.

This is an amazing camera that’s incredibly compact

Overall the camera is great and I am glad I made the purchase. I debated buying this camera for a few weeks before making the purchase. In the end, I opted for the version with the grip kit and extra battery because Amazon offered a monthly payment option for the $100 extra model. In my case, I was looking for a great travel camera that could take amazing pictures without my needing to lug around multiple lens or memorize a voluminous user manual. I’m not sure I’ll get much use out of the group kit but I appreciate the capabilities it provides, namely one button operation of the camera. I opted for this model over the discounted, older A7 mirrorless with similar optical range because I wanted the convenience of not carrying around lens and the updated optics. I like the camera’s wide range, though more zoom would be handy. There some a lot of menus and features that help make the most use of the camera. There are some more capabilities enabled when operating the camera from a computer using the Sony software, including a higher pixel count for some functions when shooting presumably indoor photos. In my hands, the camera is a little small to hold and operate but that might also be my mind comparing the cost of the camera to its physical dimensions :-) . At any rate, I purchased a base to provide more grip surface area.

The camera is highly reviewed. But the zoom on the camera wasn’t impressive. I did a comparison against my iPhone and they were the same. I honestly thought it would be better than my iPhone.

Not Suitable for Arthritic Hands

The camera is designed for small, strong hands. While the size and weight of the camera are appealing in theory, for those with dexterity issues, it's not practical. I considered buying Sony's AGR2 Attachment Grip as recommended in a review video, but its added bulk created issues in finding a suitable protective case. Bottom-line: It's an expensive long-term investment I can I’ll afford.
