Excellent controller. It works just as advertised. If I had to choose, I would always buy a Sony brand controller, instead of another. I have purchased other controllers, from other makers, that just do not hold up to the same durability. It is definitely going to cost more, but it is worth it.

    • Disappointed with this product
I ordered this knowing that it was a refurbished controller. when I received it, it was filthy straight out of the box. The buttons had dust and debris causing them to stick. It had a coating of sticky dust on the controller casing. I cleaned it hoping that that was the only issue with this product. I had used it as intended about 3 times and it worked perfectly. After that the controller stopped working correctly. It would charge and hold a charge, but it started selecting random buttons making it unusable, it ended up turning my system off several times because I couldn’t back out of the the system “turn off” display. I am really disappointed with this product as it wasn’t a cheep purchase. ... show more

First of all, check to see if your controller is the genuine article when you get it. If you have a chrome label talking about "IDA standards" or lights you can see through the casing, or breaks very fast like the one star reviews claim, odds are you have a counterfeit controller. And why would people bother to counterfeit PS3 controllers? Well, the asking price for Dualshock 3s is ABSURD - basically no less than the Dualshock 4s at the time of this writing! No wonder bootleggers got into the Dualshock 3 controller business. For the price of a video game controller nowadays, you could almost buy a GAME. No more $19.99 N64 controllers for you (and if you see a Sony Dualshock 3 controller online for $19.99, it's almost certainly fake). So is there a difference between the $45 Sony controllers (when you finally get the genuine article) and the knockoffs sold for much much less? The truth is, there is indeed a quality difference between a real Dualshock 3 and those cheap controllers all over the place. While a knockoff will far outlast a counterfeit, they will still get worn down and lose some responsiveness or break entirely before a Sony one would. Sony controllers also tend to last much longer in between battery charges than others will (although not including a charging cable with a controller when you pay $45 is just another testament to Sony's [or the industry's] Ferengi level of devotion to greed). They are more responsive and sensitive to analog presses than the knockoffs as well. The real question is - is it worth paying more than double (and n some cases, triple or quadruple) the price for the increase in quality? Well, if you plan on spending hundreds or thousands of hours on your PS3 with many epic RPGs, or competing with foul-mouthed children in whatever FPS is popular at the moment, then the controller quality will make a HUGE difference, and it's definitely worth it... although I still believe Sony is getting away with Highway Robbery. And yes parents - if your child's one true joy is gaming, then pay the extra money for the real deal, because the knock offs will break much faster than the genuine Sony controllers (thus ultimately costing you more). But if you don't play very much and tend to avoid games that require precision controls, you might be better off buying one of the many knock offs selling for prices as cheap as $11. ... show more

    • Controller had issues from the start. Now completely dead.
Ps 3 for gaming controller. Problems with PS -power button. Needed to often push power button in order to play. Totally died now. Not a good product. Will not deal with that dealer again!!!!
