  • Great New Sony Closed Back Headphones
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
I have owned Sony MDR7506,7509,7510, 7520, and Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro in my professional film and recording career. The new M1 will replace my Beyers for audiobook recording for three reasons: superior physical comfort (better fit, lighter weight, less clamping, better cushions), and more comfortable sound. The Beyer have overhyped, super-detailed highs which create ear fatigue over many hours in the studio. In that way, they are like the harsh precision digital sound of CDs. The Sony M1 are more like an analogue LP, warm vinyl sound. More natural and less harsh and hyped. Infinitely better than 7506. At half the price of the former 7520, and a more even response with no overemphasized punches, the M1 are much more listenable for long recording sessions. No storage bag, but totally great to have TWO detachable cables of different lengths and NOT CURLY!!!! Very exciting and useful! (Curly weigh too much and pull on the headphones, especially lightweight ones like this.) REVISION: I would take issue with the two straight cables' textured jacket. Inevitably it rubs on clothing and transfers physical noise into the left ear cup. When performing voiceover, this is darned distracting. A smooth jacket would not catch on clothing as much and would transfer less noise. This is a genuine drawback to the experience. ... show more

  • Tube them.
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
Great as a reference headphone. However, if you are looking for some real pleasure listening and, want to keep using them. Slap these on a tube amp. Fantastic listening experience. If you wear glasses, you may want to hunt down some other pads. The seal on the stock ones is not fantastic and, pretty noticeably detracts from the bass response. Can't fault Sony for my being blind though. ... show more

  • I really like these
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
Non fatiguing all day listening. Really a daily driver for any audiophile. Very lightweight and comfortable plus good isolation.

  • Replaced My Old Sony MDR 7506 headphones
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
Great sound and good looks but it is pricey. I took advantage of the Amazon no interest payment plan and it makes it a little more palatable. But truth be told, with my old ears, if I were to do it again I would probably just go with a new set of MDR 7506 headphones for less than half the price. I use these headphone with my ROKU remote and do some quiet listening late at night. I do not use them for recording or studio type projects. ... show more

  • Crystal Clear
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
These are supposed to be audiophile quality and used for producing and monitoring but also is great for casual listening with quality. The other headphone I use for producing and mixing are the Audio Technica M50x which are well known in the audio industry but are obviously bulkier and heavier. These are way lighter and the screw in cable for more secure connection and no accidental detachment. What I do wish that Sony does is take this quality and implement it into their XM series of headphones which can add more versatility for one pair of headphones that can be bluetooth and then wired with this quality. I do think the price of these is a little high but you are paying for the quality but again, more worth it to combine with their bluetooth headphones for versatility. ... show more

  • My new go to headphones.
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
My new go to headphones for when I work on my music work. Sony had done it again. I have the original MDRV6 then the MDR7506 and now the MDR-M1 All of these work and sound great. Sony Professional headphones have been the go to headphones for most sound engineers. Just watch the sound engineer on news shows or documentaries and or studio and you will see the guy in the back with a pair of Sony Professional headphones on. These are flat sounding just like the others before them. No artificial enhancement like you get with other brand headphones. If your looking for headphones for music or sound mixing or sound work these are the ones. If your looking for headphone to just listen to music on a mp3 player or cell phone or even home audio system, then look elsewhere, these aren't for you. ... show more

  • Short cable length
Color: Black Size: One size Style: Over Ear
While these are very good true monitors the cable length is about a foot and a half, way too short.
