  • very powerful and complete package
I was shocked on how tiny this is but the quality of videos is incredible. Would have given 5 stars except for: the tiny connection ports; proprietary HDMI connector cable; video files can only be seen on the flash memory card using Sony’s proprietary image software (included with camera); and the tiny touch screen controls. Having big finger tips make it awkward to use. Comes complete with all the connector cables you need, no additional purchases for cables required. Played the videos on my 50” plasma TV using the included HDMI cable, just super quality images. With good lighting, the 30x zoom still shows sharp detail. Added a 32 gig card to the camera because the HD video takes up a lot of space, approximately 100 megs per minute. ... show more

  • All it was supposed to be
I've used the camera for just under a week, and have quite a few hours recording, then editing and posting to my website. I have not used other cameras (this is my first), so the good thing for me was that it was pretty easy to use. The image clarity on distant and closeups is good (no problems that I could see). Standard battery life is not all that great (90-120 mins - but really feels like a lot less when your get the low battery warning) - so I may invest in a spare or two. I also purchased a memory stick at same time, and good thing. At the highest resolution/quality, relying on default 8GB storage capacity is a bit risky - but not a huge problem until I get second or high capacity battery. Battery and only 8GB are not serious negatives - especially given the quality and ease or use (plan ahead and get extra of both). ... show more

  • Good camera for the price
This is my first video camera and when I compare the video from this camera to the video that I shoot on my normal cannon still camera, there is a big difference in quality. Well I cannot compare this with other video cameras since this is the only one that I own. I'd like to say one thing is that this camera works great for the price that you pay. The best part is that I have a sony LCDTV to which I plug this camera using the HDMI cable that is provided with the camera and I can play all videos. Even more interesting, I can use the TV remote to control and browse through the videos in the camera :) Well sony products better be compatible, but this came as a sweet surprise. Battery backup is not great, but anyway the battery lasts upto 1.5 hrs of video shooting which I think is sufficient for day to day videos unless you want to record a complete stage show or a rock concert. I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 stars for the reason that the low light video is not good, which the camera claims that it does well. ... show more

  • Tough Camcorder
Color: Blue
I took videos of the South Texas soccer championships last weekend and during game 2 the camcorder got a direct hit by a soccer ball kicked offsides and knocked it senseless. It wouldn't focus after that. After hitting all the buttons I could think of I finally disconnected the battery and reconected it and it worked fine again. Great tough little camera. Very easy to use, light enough and small enough to carry in my pocket without notice. HD viseo and sound is the best I ever had in a camcorder. I love it. My next one will be the 3D Sony. ... show more

  • Not what I expected
I should have known that I wasn't getting a fine camera for the price I paid for this one. The battery is not so great, but is not a reason to complaint, video quality on the other hand is a reason to complaint. I have a 55 HD tv and the image, even when I recorded in the highest available quality, is all pixelated. I didn't return for two reason, (1) it seems like my wife didn't care much about the quality of the video, and the camera is just for my wife and (2), I don't think I can get a much better camera in the price range this was. I gave it three stars because Sony is not very accurate while decribing the HD capacity of the camera. ... show more

  • Great camera
My daughter is into radio and television broadcast and loves the camera. It is great for what she wanted,, it was the model below what her school uses, but still has a lot of features and it very small and light.

  • Great Little Camcorder
Color: Blue
This is my first camcorder that I have purchased, I took it right out of the box and started using it. The touch screen menu is very easy to use. I also like the fact that I can take still images while recording and the zoom is unbelievable. Now I know this is not the top of the line Camcorder but I am not a movie producer so I do not need something high end. If you want to record family activities, gatherings with friends or just sight seeing this cam is for you and I think it will amaze you in the quality of movies that you can take. ... show more
