I wanted a small portable boombox with am/fm, cassette tape player/recorder, cd player, sleep function,mp3 cd player & bluetooth. This little Sony has almost everything but I had to sacrifice the bluetooth. I hope I can get a Bluetooth transmitter which will give me everything g I was looking for. The sound is terrific,also has a Mega Bass button for a deeper sound. All functions appear to operate as advertised. I will be using the MP3 cd feature on my 11 hr. trip back to Ohio from North Carolina as my SUV is not equipped with an MP3 cd readable feature. I have already purchased a box of 20 "C" batteries. This unit uses 6 "C's" in lieu of electricity. So far I am very pleased with the quality, features,portability and price of this little Sony.

When I first ordered the boombox it arrived in 1 day, as the order stated it would. I opened the box, and noticed that the tip of the antenna was broken. I called Amazon, got immediate clear instructions on how to proceed, and they sent the replacement the next day. The replacement was in good condition and functions as the listing stated it would. Really appreciate the prompt, polite support. The boombox is easy to work with, and all features are simple to work with. I do wish the station selection would let you scroll forward or back until you're close to the desired station, but it works like the Scan button in my truck - jumps to the next station. I'd like the faster scrolling ability, but it works. It provides good sound and functions, and is perfect for use in the garage/shop when working there. If I want better sound to listen to, I've got a great stereo system & speakers in the house!

Okay, I just unboxed mine this afternoon, and here are my first impressions after fiddling with it for a few hours. I may return later to add some comments. If you’re looking for audiophile sound quality, look elsewhere. That’s an unreasonable demand to make of a low-end model like this one. Some have complained that the sound for this model is tinny without the mega-bass, and I tend to agree. Even so, the mega-bass easily fixes the problem. Listening with headphones is a serious improvement. You might find better sound in this price range, but I doubt it. I bought this product because I have a lot of cassettes for which I have a strong sentimental attachment. The cassette player seems to function well, but there is no counter which is a pain when you’re looking for a specific track. CDs play well, too. My impression is that classical music and jazz sound a lot better on this machine than pop music and rock, but that’s pretty subjective. No tone control. I guess they figured the mega-bass took care of that. The tuner clearly draws in a lot more stations than there are presets, but I live in an urban area. YMMV. The tuner seems to give better sound than the CD and cassette players. Took me a while to figure out setting the presets, even with instructions. After several hours, I suddenly remembered a pair of inexpensive computer speakers I had in the closet. I got ‘em out, set ‘em up, hooked them into the boombox through the headphone jack, and found the overall result quite pleasing. It’s still nowhere close to audiophile quality, but it works for me. Just accept the fact that it’s low-end, and you can have a nice little music player for your kitchen or garage—or if you’re just an old timer who needs some way to listen to all his beloved old tapes.

I was found this to be what they advertised and works properly. The last boom box I bought was so bad (not a Sony) that this seems like the best thing in the world. The radio is true digital (not analog with digital readout as on my last one) and tunes easily with good sensitivity and selectivity. On my first try I was able to receive both New York City and Boston on AM. Able to pick up all the local FM stations that I normally listen to. The only downside is that it has only 3 presets. I find the sound to be good, not the same as a high end home stereo but good for a boom box. I bought this to use for listening my class lectures which are on cassette tapes, CDs and MP3 files and it handles them very well. There is no off, only stand by but since I usually leave it plugged in on my desk it should not be a problem. If I need another for my class work I would by it again.

This was a gift. I received much praise for it. After a week or so. At the time of gifting it was over shadowed by other more flashy music players from other gifters. But after she had the time to listen to all of the boomboxes recieved it became clear that it stood head and shoulders above the lesser models with more flashy and modern looking devices. The clear better sound and quality was the Sony. It's not my evaluation of my own ear. But the ear of a true audiophile that lives her life to her favorite tunes. I have been very pleased with the response from the gifted. And every time I see her it seems like she is always mentioning the gift. I have never got more bang for the buck with any other gift to anyone ever.

I like this product, its what you would expect--a good little cd player, with a cassette player and radio as well. It's pretty simple, but that's what I wanted. Good quality sound, easy to figure out the buttons. Not too expensive for what you get. I have a huge cd AND cassette collection, so i am very happy someone is still manufacturing these players. Not all of us want to buy a record player, or whatever is the latest fad to get you to spend more money...I expect cd's will not ever go away completely, they will do just like what records did--go away, only to come back again in another decade or so. Which is why I am glad I hung onto some of my record collection, but honestly--I don't have room for a record player, and I have far more cd's AND cassettes! than records, so it's a good thing to have a choice. Now, don't be expecting the 8 track to ever make a comeback, cause it sucked from the word go. Just saying.... Update: after about 6 months, the cd player quit working. I would never buy this again. I have since purchased a Magnavox cd player and I am happy with it.

I've have 3 portable Sony cassette/CD/Radio players going back to 2001. They are all still in great shape and the oldest has taken a beating. This is my smallest one and I was looking for a portable tape player with good quality. I've purchased a few no-brand ones and they work fine for a while but only last a year or two. I am impressed with the sound quality and clarity. I disagreed with some of the other reviews about the sound quality. For the size of this player it is great, and it can crank pretty loud too. I think the critics expectations didn't align with the size and value of this product. Moreover I get plenty of battery life out of it from the six C batteries. Five Stars.

Received on August 14, 2021 and opened on Labor Day weekend, today is October 22, 2021 and have just experienced the third incident of a cassette part eating my cassette. Good thing I got a back-up. Will update on how the second one, and then the third one, does until trouble arises. Hopefully those have better staying and lasting power. LOL I used to buy my boom boxes off ebay and did pretty good with them over time, so I decided to try something new this time around to see how that works out for me. LOL Outside of that, the cd and the cassette worked perfectly. I never used the radio. Lightweight, attractive, and gets the job done considering it's a near blessing to still be able to find these in 2021. Sound quality isn't great, but it's good enough to not pass this unit up based on sound alone. It comes with audio plugs but because I don't know what to do with them, I didn't use them. LOL #2, that return window is shorter than a mini skirt because it was for the second week in September. LOL
