Description
The ZV-E1 is Sony's first vlog camera with a Full-frame 12.1 MP1 Exmor R image sensor that is optimized for 4K and delivers 15+ stops of latitude, low noise, high sensitivity, and gorgeous full-frame bokeh. It can record 4K movies with direct pixel readout and 10-bitdepth and 4:2:2 color sampling using Long GOP or All Intra compression, making it possible to grade for fuller, more natural gradations while generally providing greater editing freedom. Cinematic Vlog Setting provides an intuitive way to create scenes that look like feature movies. By choosing a Look, Mood and AF transition speed, anyone can create cinematic vlog footage that ideally matches the scene and creative intent. The Cinematic Vlog Setting includes "Look" options such as S-Cinetone that can enhance skin tones, "Mood" options that can emphasize specific colours, and the AF transition speed that determines how quickly autofocus will switch between subjects. New features such as AI-based Auto Framing, Framing Stabilizer, and Multiple Face Recognition join the popular features enjoyed in other Sony ZV cameras, like Product Showcase setting and Background Bokeh Control, to delivery Sony's most powerful and refined ILC camera for content creators who desire to record and create content of the highest quality.

Was unsure at first, but really loving this camera.
Color: White
Style: Camera Body
Was hesitant because of all the overheating talk. But it's definitely a keeper for me. I already own an a7s 3 and FX3 so I'm familiar with the sensor. I'm not using this as a vlog camera, instead I wanted the same quality in a smaller form factor for travel and lighter run and gun setup. The AI is a plus but marginally better than what we already had in terms of autofocus. I've had pretty great results with the older object tracking already. Dynamic active stabilization was pretty clutch a few times when tracking forward/back. Less reliable for horizontal/pan type movements. Overheating, I used it over the weekend in 80 degree weather in a real shoot from 12pm till 4pm, mostly 4k 24p and sprinkled in some 4k 60p and did not encounter any overheating the way I would normally use it. I was able to get it to overheat in 4k 60p in a controlled setting, recording around 30 minutes. I also updated to 4k 120p and that overheated around 15 minutes. Again doesn't bother me for my use case. I also tested in 4k 24p and the battery drained before overheating, so I could use this as a 3rd camera long format recordings like a podcast. The built-in mic is convenient, but not that great, however if you know how to post process audio you can get pretty good results. Only thing I wish it had was an evf, even if it's a lower res version. I also got the white one... which was the only one ready to ship in time for my shoot, didn't want this color either but it's starting to grow on me.

Great camera in a small package.
Color: White
Style: Camera Body
This has been a great video camera for me. Everything has been fine except for one single hiccup. Doing a long interview (around 50 minutes) 4k 30fps in a room around 85 degrees Fahrenheit with no air movement is too much. It did overheat. The camera was new to me at the time, so I didn't know how hard I could push it. I heard of the possible overheating from watching many YouTube videos, so, thankfully, I did have a cell phone recording at the same time, so I didn't lose any of the interview. I turned it back on immediately and was blowing on the back of the camera for the last 10-15 minutes of the interview to keep it cooled off. Honestly, even the smallest breeze does seem to be enough to keep it cooled off. Other than that one time I've never had any issue. It is a fantastic camera, and everything I've done with it looks absolutely amazing.

Camera is junk if you do anything but take pictures, don't buy this model
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
Right out of the box this camera started overheating in an hour and 40 minutes causing it to shut down and it just got worse the longer I used it. I had a professional video producer who uses models very similar to this come and take a look but each suggestion made it worse as it degraded over time. It now can't go much over 30 minutes and it shuts down. It took almost 90 days to find out that this camera is either poorly designed or defective. I'm not a professional so I don't use it every day, hence it took longer to find the problem. Amazon offers a 30 day return policy so I'm stuck with a $2000 plus paper weight as far as using it for podcasting and online meetings. Amazon says this is a frequently returned item, I bet the reason it's not 100 percent returned is because most people do what I did and try to solve the problem and then lose the 30 day window to return it. Don't buy this model, try another model, Sony needs to recall it. You'll thank me later ( :

The ZV-E1 is a low light ISO god, just get a fan
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
I use the Sony ZV-E1 as a webcam/mirror. I leave it on all day (but turn it off at night), and this is possible without any overheating problems thanks to a 3rd party fan attachment. You must buy one of these fans. Otherwise, the ZV-E1 will overheat constantly. This camera performs excellently in low light. In a dark room with just my computer monitors and a dim key light lighting me, I get satisfying exposure even with 1/60 shutter speed and a F2.8 lens. It needs like 12,800 to 25,600 ISO for it, but for webcam use, the picture still looks great. An F1.8 lens needs like 6400 to 12,800 ISO. An F1.4 lens needs around 2000-8000 ISO. (These might be overestimates too because I think I got these numbers while using 0 EV Compensation, but I discovered that I need to apply -0.7 EV Compensation to get the right brightness in my dark room. This means less ISO is required.) A month ago, I didn't know anything about cameras, and I was super anxious about picking the right one. Well, a month later I feel like I got the right one. It's an absolute beast in low light.

Best camera for creators in 2023
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
I have had the Sony ZV-E1 glued to my hand since it arrived in the mail. I have shot BTS and some scenes for a commercial shoot that we did, I have hosted a photographers meetup and used this to take photos, I have shot thumbnails for YT videos, created vlogs, and recorded an hour long podcast episode with breaks every 20-30 mins. I was worried when I bought this camera that it was going to be some gimmicky vlog camera but after doing extensive research and watching pretty much every Sony cam video made I decided it was worth the risk. As someone who is a run and gun shooter this camera is amazing for a grab and go situation. Now that companies are also starting to create rigs that fit this camera I am working on getting a small rig cage and kit so that I can also build it out. Even without the cage though this is also the perfect camera to run off of a gimbal, behind the scenes, a primary or secondary camera, or pretty much whatever your creative needs are depending on the situation. The intelligent auto feature in this camera makes it feel like you have a virtual assistant and the fact that the menu is so customizable makes it a really enjoyable efficient camera when shooting in manual as well. I am very pleased with this camera.

$600 off for BRAND NEW CONDITION! (Tested)
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
Came in like new with original packaging and got $600 off just because the packaging was a little ripped. Not ONE sign of use anywhere. Sensor was spotless, screen spotless, body spotless, even had the sticker still on it, zero overheating issues, records like a charm. I can’t believe I am able save so much money with the open box method!!! Great seller, definitely would recommend!

The zv-e1 is an mazing camera!
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
It’s amazing to me that folks buy a camera and then return it because of its “flaws” like they are completely surprised of its shortcomings (no camera is perfect). Do people not do any research at all when buying expensive tech gear?! The zve1 is an awesome camera and the price $2,200 is not unreasonable at all when considering the tech that it contains! I bought it to complement my a7siii and a74 and it has quickly become my go to camera for video. My a74 is being sold today. I live in South Florida where overheating can be an issue but unless you try to use the zve1 for long form (more than 30 minutes at 4k30 or 4k60 for 20 minutes) video shoots outside when its 90 degrees f, it’s not a problem. If you need a camera that shoots indefinitely in the heat then buy the a7siii or fx3.

AVOID AT ALL COST
Color: Black
Style: Camera Body
This camera could've been so great but the missing piece being an internal fan made this thing painfully useless. After watching countless "reviews" on YouTube highlighting it does overheat, I don't know if I received a defective model because the camera overheats just being on after 10-15 minutes, making it tremendously useless. Would've loved to actually test the incredible features it has but none of those matter if it overheats in a matter of minutes making it unreliable. Hoping they making a mark II version with an internal fan built in to keep it cool like all the other cameras Sony makes but for the time being the a7c II is damn near the same but HAS an internal fan and will be what I use. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.
