  • Incredible Camera!!!
Style: Base Set: w/18-135mm Lens
This is an incredible camera. I went from a Nikon D7100 to this Mirrowless Sony. A great decision. Most of time it gets the exposure dead on without a gray card. I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it does. No more Nikon for me. I’m sold on Sony!!! Only drawback is there are a lot of screens to make adjustments. Not enough to give it a bad review though. ... show more

  • Great low light image
Style: Base Set: Camera Only
First : I only use it for church streaming. I don’t use it for stills. Now that’s out of the way …. My church lighting is horrible. Our previous camcorder worked well in old building with more light but in this dark stage setting, the image was super grainy. This camera fixed all that low image quality problem. We stream indoor and with AC so we don’t get any overheating problems but I don’t know if it will overheat in different environments. We also use 120v power adopter and no batteries. ... show more

  • 👏🏾 Made the switch from Canon 📸
Style: Base Set: w/18-135mm Lens
Trust me, I would have stayed with Canon FOREVER but I was tired of the subpar 4k video on equally-priced Sony cameras so I had to switch. This Sony camera is AMAZING and I feel silly for not switching sooner! I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER OR VIDEOGRAPHER, just a female who likes high-quality gear. I will compare it to the Canon Cameras I have returned/sold, rebought and still own (which are all the Canon Rebel Series, Canon 70/80d, Canon EOS 6D Mark II, and Canon M50). These are JUST the highlights of comparison to the Canon Cameras I own with my 9-month experience using this Sony camera. 4k VIDEO DIFFERENCES over Canon (all Rebels, 70D, 80d, 6D Mark II, M50) * Actual 4k pixeled file, smooth and crisp. * Doesn't have image stabilizer, but can fix in FCPX. Need a tripod or gimbal for moving videos. * Smaller 4k files than any Canon camera I own, faster upload/download and editing time * No record time limit * 6k sampling * Processes video files MUCH faster BATTERY LIFE DIFFERENCES over Canon (all Rebels, 70D, 80d, 6D Mark II, M50) * Similar to 80d/Mark II * Option to plug the battery directly into the wall for continuous power. Need to buy this plug separately. * Can charge camera as you use it too AUTO-FOCUS DIFFERENCES over Canon (all Rebels, 70D, 80d, 6D Mark II, M50) * Faster autofocus but not perfect for video (still quicker than Canon) * Super fast autofocus for images SOUND QUALITY DIFFERENCES over Canon (all Rebels, 70D, 80d, 6D Mark II, M50) * Useable audio, much better than Canon PERIOD. (still would use external mic but a great back-up audio option) Obviously, there is A LOT more great features than this but these were the most important ones for me (coming from Canon). The camera does not have any heating issues, haven't had it shut off on me yet in 9 months of using it. I didn't have an issue with the shoe being on top, as I hardly used a gimbal (some didn't like that). Also, the colors are nice, perfect for my skin tone (not too blue) and I prefer it over the Canon. I know I probably may change my mind as Canon releases its newer models but for now, I'm very pleased with this Sony. GO SONY!!!!!!! I hope this somewhat helps you :) ... show more

  • Exceptional camera.
Style: Base Set: w/18-135mm Lens
Exceptional camera. Menu system not as bad as reviews said. Does not get hot at all after a 2.5hr non-stop video at 1080p using dummy battery. Does get quite warm, in a 72deg room, when recording at 4k, but not hot. Internal mics are mediocre, but added shotgun mic and audio is excellent. This is the water-resistant AL-magnesium version, a step up from a6100; worth added expense for magnesium housing and water resistance for protection on a rainy day. Bought with 19-135 lens, pics are excellent. Only flaw is why the camera cannot output h.264 video over USB or the WiFi? Instead have to buy a hokey (price gouged) HDMI "capture" card; HDMI is already digital. Sony has h.264 compression in the a6400. It is used on videos recorded to the SD card. The new a7 will have h.265 lossless compression; too bad they were not on the ball and did not put this in the a6400. h.264 compression is several years old! UPDATE: After a year and a half, all I can say is fantastic! I am nearsighted and the red focus assist negates the need to wear glasses or use the viewfinder's built-in diopter adjuster. I use this cam with a Laowa 9mm rectilinear lens (manual focus) for indoor pics, and the articulated screen is great for this. It allows the camera to work like a Hassalblad; holding the camera low to get the angle right (so vertical lines are parallel). One can hold the camera at waist height and tilt the screen up. With the 35-135 kit zoom, the auto-focus is excellent. With the SEL200600G, works great, but the big zoom does use up the battery, so keep a spare. Another wow factor is the digital-zoom-in-while-focusing (C1 button in still pic mode). This allows viewing the image zoomed in to get the focus perfect. Water rest mag case is the way to go too. I never worry about being out in the rain with this camera (but I do make an effort to not let it get wet anyway to be safe). probably have shot several THOUSAND pics and all I can say is "wish I had this camera thirty years ago". Thanks Sony! ... show more
