  • Great Camera! Inclusive kit.
Style: w/ 18-135mm & 55-210mm Lenses
I rate it 5 stars because of the quality of the Sony a6700. Though APS-C, is a major improvement over m FF A7ii: size, weight, touch screen, more user friendly menu. The 18-135mm & 70-210mm lenses & higher ISO are real pluses. Image quality is superb. Only kit negative was inclusion of a cheap non-Sony second battery that would not work for some functions. ... show more

  • Excellent picture quality in a comfortable small size
Recently bought this camera before a trip to Zion NP and Grand Canyon. The camera is great, the 64G memory card is great, extra battery and charger are a necessity as the battery life is not the greatest. For me, the rest of the accessories are pretty much throw away. Great value none the less. I bought this camera to replace my aging Canon 50D. I loved that camera, but just got tired of lugging the size/weight of a full sized DSLR. I am thoroughly impressed with this camera. I shoot a lot of family and vacation photos, but also enjoy photographing my kids' hockey and volleyball. This is the first mirrorless camera with good enough focus performance to even consider for sports. I haven't tried the sports yet, but expect it will do just fine. After a trip to Zion and Grand Canyon with the a6000 I am very impressed. Even with the pedestrian kit lens this camera delivers. Detail is great, focus rarely fails, and shadow details far exceed my old Canon (shoot RAW or RAW+JPEG for best results). Build quality is solid and the camera is comfortable to hold and operate with relatively large hands. The real joy is the size/weight. I hiked 40 miles over adventurous trails with this camera around my neck an never once had the urge to throw it off a cliff. I definitely can't say that for my DSLR. It's very refreshing to get DSLR quality with pocket camera convenience. The build quality is solid, menus are logical, and features are nice (cell phone remote control works pretty well, wifi file transfer is handy, nearly endless configuration options useful if not overwhelming). Complaints? A touch screen would be nice for picking focus points and GPS would be nice once in a while, but neither are deal breakers for me. I've been a long time Sony hater, but this camera has me thinking twice. All I need now is a suitable replacement for my trusty Canon 70-200 2.8L and I'll complete the transition to mirrorless. ... show more

  • Great Camera - A 3 Month Review
Style: w/ 18-135mm Lens
I have now owned my Sony A6700 camera for 3 months and am very pleased with my purchase. Having a entry level DSLR for several years I was looking to upgrade the quality of my pictures and there is a very discernable improvement with this camera. That is particularly true in indoors and low light situations. The other major considerations for me were portability and getting something with recent technology. The downsides to the Sony A6700 are that it consumes battery power fairly quickly, does not have a secondary card slot and like many technology products it takes some effort to use it to the fullest. That said this camera can be used a simple point and shoot with auto-focus. I have not observed any “computer glitch” issues with this product. It fits comfortably in my hands (men’s large size) and feels well made. I first became aware of the Sony AXXXX camera series when I noticed a fellow taking pictures of some windsurfers in the Columbia Gorge last spring. He was a technical person and used it mainly for hiking and sports photography. I was shocked at the relatively small footprint of the camera and lens used for this type of photography. He was using a slightly higher-powered lens than is included here, but it was still relatively small. In contrast I saw someone out this morning with an older full size DSLR and similar power lens indicating camera shake issues with longer lenses. Thus, another advantage of a compact camera and lens. Since purchasing the A6700, I have been experimenting with a variety of lenses. However, on a recent trip to Kauai I just took the included 18 to 135 mm lens and that worked great. I may get a longer shoulder strap and a longer variable APS-C lens in the future. Recently, I bought 3 relatively smaller Sigma prime lenses and they are working well, They were more of a splurge then necessary given the Sony 18 to 135 lens. I also bought a Monster Nikon F to Sony E converter which seems to work with my Sigma 150 – 600mm F-mount lens. I was initially looking at the Nikon Z6ii and Sony A6600 camera but was hesitant on buying as they were both several years old. I have a terrible record of buying things just before a major new product upgrade is announced. The Nikon apparently is a rock-solid product, but as a hobbyist I can tolerate a few idiosyncrasies for some other attributes. The A6700 camera can consume batteries fairly quickly even if you forget to turn it off. The extra battery included in this kit works just fine except the camera gives you a warning it is not a Sony battery which can cause confusion when you are trying to do something quickly. I bought a second Sony battery and use the charger included in this kit. The rest of the things included in this kit are quite usable. I was surprised. This camera is a learning project for me and I have found a book by Friedman Archives and YouTube videos to be extremely helpful. Given the changes in the A6700 from prior AXXXX products I doubt older books would be very helpful. Sony appears to be the leader in high performance smaller cameras and to me that is worth some of the product challenges. ... show more

  • Great camera not a great package to buy
Style: w/ 16-50mm Lens
Camera was great but the kit comes with outdated software that doesn’t work for Mac. Do not buy this if you have a Mac. I should have bought from a different seller or at least a different kit. Also, pieces were missing from kit. Beach camera did say they shipped them out to me, but I did not receive tracking and will see if they show up. ... show more

  • Excellent Camera -- Great Package Deal
This is a fantastic camera. I researched for DSLR cameras for a year before I purchased. These so-called mirrorless cameras are perfect for us because we take it with us when we mountain bike or hike. The smaller frame is what I like the best. This camera boasts the fastest autofocus in the market and it IS FAST. I wanted something to use for action shots and I just press the shutter button and it rapid-fire snaps photos. Since using this camera, instagram followers and friends have definitely commented on the improved quality of our pictures. The ability to download pictures directly from the camera to a smart phone via wireless technology makes it possible to instantly access these pictures as soon as we get off the trail. This particular kit was a bargain and the UV filter is essential in this urban area we live in with tons of ozone haze everyday. Although the camera bag isn't specifically for the Sony, it works. It's not a great fit, but it works. Add in the extra battery and extra charger and memory card and, if you are buying this camera, why not buy this package??? ... show more
