Before I purchased these headphones I owned a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort, and I used them pretty much every day for 4 years before they broke on me. I was really happy with the Bose but I wanted to try something new and I wasn't disappointed with these. The Sonos Ace are just as comfortable as the Bose, if not slightly more so. They fit snug on my head without being too tight. I can wear them at the gym and they stay right where I put them, regardless of the workout I'm doing. I can even lay down to do bench presses without them shifting on my head. I haven't gone running with these yet, but I am confident you shouldn't have any issues. The noise cancellation is also really good. I haven't owned these long enough to say they are better than the Bose (had them for about a week) but so far I'm not feeling like I've downgraded at all. I didn't notice a single sound in the gym, which can be a noisy place. Sound quality is definitely better than Bose, the sound stage feels fuller/wider, so I get more immersed in the music. When I listen to podcasts the voices feel richer and clearer. As far as battery and charging goes, they are a serious upgrade. These things have 30 hours of battery life, and if you forget to charge them, they can get up to 3 hours of battery after just 3 minutes of charging, so if you're in a hurry to get to the gym, they will have enough battery life for a workout by the time you get dressed to leave. (This is probably one of my favorite features of the headphones because I'm terrible about charging my devices) They are really sleek looking, these are definitely the most attractive pair of headphones I've ever seen in my personal opinion. Lastly, the build quality feels top notch. My Bose headphones broke on the left side where the ear piece connected to the headband, it had a plastic joint that wore out over time because I would remove my headphones with one hand. The Sonos Ace are made of metal where the ear piece meets the headband so I'm very confident that these won't break the same way the Bose did, which is really reassuring. My hope is that these will last as long, if not longer than the Bose did. If these don't have any internal issues, such as speakers/software/microchips, I feel pretty confident that the overall build of the Sonos is pretty sturdy and will hold up against daily wear and tear. I wear headphones at work all day, sometimes 10-12 hour shifts, and when I get home they get used for housework, video games, etc. These things are the kind of headphones you can wear forever and not get any discomfort, and they feel like they're built tough enough to withstand the kind of abuse that eventually broke my Bose. They are hands down my favorite pair of headphones so far and I highly recommend them. If i discover any issues worth mentioning after owning them longer, I will be sure to come back and update this review - otherwise, assume I'm still a happy customer!

Extremely comfortable wearing headphones with premium build. Just a step below Apple in materials and noise cancelling but still quite good. The sound profile could use some work in the high mids and treble where things get muddy, especially snare drums. Needs more separation to create the rich sounds I would express at this price. That said they still sound pleasant and mostly premium. Great soundstage and stereo separation. Disagree with some reviewers regarding the bass. Just right for me and not overblown. Purchased these for long haul international flights and believe they will excel at this. Hope the longevity is good. We shall see.

I (finally!) purchased these Ace headphones to help with a movie-theater-style setup in my unfinished basement. The area will be converted into a real setup someday when the basement gets finished, but there are some unique issues to overcome now: 1) the HVAC system is nearby and is loud between the fans and whole house humidifier; 2) this theater is below the main bedroom in the house; 3) I only have one power outlet in this side of the basement; 4) my projector is very basic and only has headphones-out or 3.5-jack to RCA as options, so no optical. With all of these conditions to meet, and no surround sound speakers installed in this room, I had to get creative. Rather than invest in a Soundbar knowing my audio connections aren't great with this projector, decided to solve all of my problems with a set of ACE headphones and a Bluetooth repeater. My projector can connect to one BT device at a time, and the audio quality coming from my projector to the ACE is great! The quality goes down a bit when I use my BT repeater, but still way better than any alternative scenario and allows both headphones I purchased to connect at the same time. I'm able to ignore all of the HVAC and other noises in the basement, not disturb anyone upstairs, I'm able to hear ALL of the audio content and speech with a nice punch of bass here and there, and these headphones can charge up very quickly. I wore them for several hours the first night and felt they were very comfortable. I tested them in a different room with my Arc Soundbar, and felt that the quality was exceptional and the tuning was very good, and the handoff between the soundbar and headphones worked great. The things that surprised me about these headphones are really my own fault for not researching appropriately: I thought I could use these with my Sonos system, but that's obviously not the case because they do not have WiFi capabilities. Their quality is somewhat dependent upon the sound quality being transmitted to them (duh) so if you have a less-than-audiophile setup you're going to have to deal with a less than perfect audio experience. Can't get Dolby quality if that's not being transmitted! But that is no fault of the headphones. Pros: stylish, comfortable, excellent sound quality when present, excellent noise cancelling. The spatial audio seems to work ok, not really sure if it's that necessary with my setup. I like the physically buttons, as it allows for independent volume control. They were really easy to setup after charging and a firmware update. I also got a great price here in buying a pair together at one time.

Since I have some Sonos stuff in my home,I figured I should try these Sonos Ace headphones. I recently decided to look for a good pair of Bluetooth ANC headphones. I started with a pair of Bowers and Wilkins PX8. While those had a build quality that was beyond impeccable, the sound quality was mediocre. Then I went to a pair of Focal Bathys. The build quality was good, but not in the same level as the B&W’s. However, the sound quality was exceptional with airy detailed highs, clear strong bass, and crystal clear vocals. The Sonos wasn’t quite as expensive as either of the others, so I wrote them off originally. But I’ve heard a number of good things from actual people praising the Aces, so I decided to buy a pair. The sound quality is the most important aspect of the headphones for me, so that’s where I’ll start. These are good, considerably better than the Bowers and Wilkins PX8, and very close to the Focal Bathys. The highs are not quite as detailed, and the vocals are not quite at the same level of clarity, but close enough that at a little more than half price, I’d consider living with it. The one negative thing I noticed occasionally was a slight very high frequency digital noise. These build quality is close to the the Focals. Definitely not of the same quality as the B&W’s, but I haven’t found another that is, so can’t knock the Sonos too much on that. Removable and replaceable ear pads (magnetically mounted) are a nice touch. There are a lot of “features” that you don’t find on other headphones. The Dolby Atmos is ok, but I watched several movies and could take it or leave it. If you have a Sonos Arc Ultra, switching from soundbar to headphones is easy. I greatly disliked the head tracking, as it seemed to just annoyingly cut out a side when I didn’t want it to. But there is an option in the app to turn it off, so that’s good. There is a bug that once in a while might cause one side to not work, but turning it off then on is supposed to fix it. I did an update, and it was working when it came back up. Battery life seems to be pretty good. I listened for a whole work day and used about 25%.

Wide sound stage for a closed back ANC headphone. Clarity and definition are superior to the other headphones I tested which are the Momentum 4s and the Cambridge Melomanias. The base is dynamic and full like mini thunder in your ears without sounding too warm, outstanding. The Sonos headphones are far superior to the other two headphones I tested, in fact I would add that I would not recommend the others over the Sonos at all. I know that's harsh since I'm not even going to list what makes the others inferior, but the difference will sound so clear, there's hardly much to say. I'll put it this way, I had to compare the Sonos with real audiophile headphones that have no features except quality drivers. Yes, the Sonos weren't better but I really spent the time to compare. For Gaming go with the Sonos over the other headphones because of it's wide sound stage it's much better at handling 7.1 virtual surround sound. The Sonos are way more comfortable than the other headphones because of how the earpads are designed to curve over your ear, not just sit flat on your ear like the others, while still covering all of your ear. It's an impressive design and just makes them feel great to wear. Also, these have magnetic earpads for easy removal unlike the others. The Senheisers do use touch controls if you like that. I found them useful but once you learn the controls of the Sonos it won't matter. There's a strange behavior with the ANC options with the Sonos when you disable ANC, the base drops below 50% of its power. However, I believe this is a feature when you don't want it to go on and off in certain areas where you need to external hearing. In addition, you can keep the setting at Adaptive which restores the base with a small open back effect. The third option for full ANC removes the open back effect. I also found the Sonos more stylish to the other two since hard edges is just how 99% of other headphones look. The headband also sits snug around your head without any weird parts that sticking out like you're in a studio when they simply don't perform that way. I know this part is subjective but I think some people would appreciate these design points. Overall, while probably more expensive than other wireless ANC headphones, these are just all around great and worth it over the others. Reviews have raved about the Sennheiser over these, I resoundingly disagree. Other observations are situational. For example, I found that these type of headphones did not need to replace my Airpod Pros when I would go for a walk or a quick hop to the corner store. The sounds of the airpods directly in your ear are just high quality sounding as regular headphones. However, if I had to go somewhere to work all day like at the office, the Sonos were hands down more comfortable in that situation. If you like to sleep with music headphones, these will be far more comfortable than the Airpods sitting in your ear. Last point is for gaming again. While the Sonos are far better for gaming than the other ones mentioned, they are still wireless ANC headphones meant for all kinds of scenarios. Dedicated headphones that will tether you to your gaming PC or if you want just audiophile headphones, those will probably offer more immersive experience in those situations.

Oh, I love Sonos products. I have the entire Sonos home theater system, so these were incredibly easy to set up and connect. I bought them so I could watch TV at night without waking my newborn twins or anyone else who happens to be sleeping. The noise cancellation is amazing—I honestly can’t hear anything going on around me when they’re on. The sound quality is exactly what I’d expect from Sonos: clear, rich, and high quality. As a bonus, they’re also great when my husband and I are arguing because I literally can’t hear a thing with them on! 😂 I have an entire home theater system that I rarely get to enjoy these days because of newborn twins and a 6-year-old who hates loud noises, so these headphones have been the perfect solution. Highly recommend!

After using these for about a week, my overall impressions. Sound quality is good. But the key reasons I wanted these headphones don't even work as defined on the product page. 1. The headphones look ok, nothing amazing, but solid look, the sound is good, the ANC is OK, better than Anker, Not as good as Sony/Bose. The feel is NOT cheap; however, the fit is a little weird. FIT: The headphones work ok as long as I keep my head completely flat and don't look up or down. I looked up to the ceiling and the headphones DO NOT STAY IN PLACE. I tried lying down to test that out. The headphones don't stay in place while lying down, but instead slide down toward the back of the head and the earcups fall off the ears (within about 5 s.) 3. The expected functions don't work as expected. a. Lossless bluetooth is essentially a lie (and it was unclear before ordering that there were, probably more specifically what those limitations are.) But ONE chipset that is on only a couple of phones doesn't make lossless bluetooth a real thing. Minimum it should be clear whether that capability would be available BEFORE I PURCHASE !!! b. The ability to toggle my sonos ARC sound to my headphones ALSO DOES NOT WORK. It might work; however, since I do NOT have an apple phone and an APPLE phone is REQUIRED to setup this capability, it doesn't work on my headphones. c. And of course Trueplay is a promised Android capability (*promised for years and NEVER implemented that capability.) So I am now supposed to believe that they will eventually add the ACE toggle to headphones option for Android later??? NO way, I have been down that road before.

I tried this set, along with two other over-the-ear headsets, to replace my work device and found the value wasn't there for this set. I do not use other Sonos tech so that may be one reason I didn't see why these were valued at nearly $500 after tax.. I gave them a shot though because they were the lightest over-the-ear set I could find to try. The audio quality was exceptional, but it wasn't much better than the other (less expensive..) sets I tried. Even feeling like I paid too much for the set, I would have kept them had it not been for the random, extremely noticeable and hurtful 'spikes' in the audio during voice calls. Occasionally, usually mulitple times during a single 1 hour call, whenever someone was talking the headset would randomly spike the audio to what felt like 100% volume and hurt my ears. I thought maybe it was a fluke, and made sure they were updated, but after day 3 or 4 of it continuing to happen I had to call it quits and return them. That being said, their weight was the huge plus I had hoped it would be, and they felt wonderful. I wore them for 4 hours one day with only the issue mentioned above causing me any grief. The connectivity and call (and music) quality were top notch (save for the previously mentioned 'spike' in loudness during calls), but as mentioned not so much better than some other headsets. I would give this headset the win in the comfort column though. I likely would have kept the headset had it not been for the spiking loudness issue. In my opinion though they should drop the price by $100 to make it more viable in the crowded over-the-ear headset space.
