Such a silly device but I love it!! I show it to people that visit and they laugh until I use it. I love the fact that I can release the bugs and not kill them It will suck up bees in flight that get in house and I especially like to catch spiders because I am petrified of them but hated smushing them. Mosquitoes not so much! ... show more

  • Didn’t work for what I wanted it for
I bought this hoping it would replace our fly swatters, but the vacuum suction is not strong enough for that use so it is being returned.

  • Good for smaller bugs
I don’t regret buying this product for smaller bugs, in those situations it worked great. There were big insects I could not catch as either they were too fast or the suction wasn’t powerful enough. I found an effective solution for them. We have aquarium fish and of course we had the typical fishing catch net laying around that you can easily buy at Petsmart. I have to wait for the large spider, for example, to be on a flat surface first, they can’t be hiding in a corner. I place the opening of the net flat on the wall with the spider trapped in the middle so he can’t run away. Of course, he doesn’t immediately jump into the net, so I slide a somewhat firm piece of paper in the net and gently prod the spider with it until he falls or walks into the net. Then I place the paper over the opening of the net. Once I relocated him and let him free, it may take awhile for him to get out of the net, I may gently shake the net to help. However, I still found this easier than trying to do the same method with a drinking glass. ... show more

  • It works!
I have caught a few bugs including a moth that was sitting stationary. I only wish the power was stronger to get those hard-to-catch flies that land and take off again.

  • Great product
So I hate killing any animal and do my best to avoid it, but I also absolutely hate bugs. I’m vegetarian and I practice Buddhism, so I’ve been looking for something that is humane and no kill, while also being convenient for a long time. This thing has been a godsend for someone like me. AND it works. I’ve used it to suck up and release spiders. I also just used it to suck up and release a hornet that got into my home, which is what is prompting my review because I would absolutely not try the cup and paper method with one of those. Before this item came into my life that would have called another family member and they would grab the shop-vac, leading to the death of it. This just sucked it right up, while not hurting it. I will say the way the top is, it was kinda scary having to remove it with a hornet flying in it, but I think the vacuum disorients it. Before opening it i put the vacuum back on and jostled it to the bottom. When I opened the lid it flew away. I kinda wish there was a way to open it without placing your hand so close to the opening for bugs like hornets, but even so it still works perfectly and wouldn’t knock that against it. And I am planning to buy a second one. ... show more

  • Barely vacuums
You have to literally be directly over the fly covering it for it to work. It is nice for getting flies out of a guinea pig cage, but it takes quite some time getting them caught. It needs more power!

  • This nifty gadget sucks (but not enough)
Nifty gadget. Great concept for those of us who aren't into wholesale slaughter of spiders and whatnot. Also, for all of us who are smart enough not to squash stink bugs in your house or RV! I know it's a fine line between too much suction (which might squish the bug and/or fragment it against the filter grid) and too little suction. I think this product errs on the side of too little suction. It's always a crap-shoot whether that stink bug will get caught up in the vortex or will cling stubbornly to the wall/ceiling/drapes. I often find it necessary to move the business end back and forth to try and knock the insect off its perch. ALSO: I hope they'll update the design to have a rocker switch to suck OR BLOW. Once you've got that nasty spider outside, it'd be great to pop the cap and flip the switch in the other direction and blow that sucker out into the outdoors! ... show more

  • I use this ALL the time
at first i thought this looked cheap, but this thing works great. i make sure to turn it off once i have the insect inside i make sure to turn the suction off so i can catch and release them without hurting them. I am so happy too bec i have lots of large moths that my cats keep bring in the house. However i have not yet been able to catch a fly in it haha. I've successfully put spiders and everything back outside where they belong. ... show more
