  • I like my solo
I found everything good and as expected. Had to put a few parts together as expected with packaging. Everything in good shape. I had to tighten some of the seals to stop leaking. I guess jarred in transport. I got this model because it is ok to use bleach and I need to do that to remove mold from house. I have always washed out my sprayers when finished so the comments from others about clogging up are irrelevant to me. I also read the directions and maintenance recommendations. I want this solo to last 18 years like my last one did. On a very good thing, they included the comfort straps and the top carry handle without request. That was a very nice add on and presented to me above average service. I did find the cone and some of the nozzles to give too fine a spray so a slight breeze might carry a poison where not wanted. The old style line spray nozzle works best so with a light pump there is now unnecessary spreading of poison. ... show more

  • The best sprayer I've ever used
After starting, decades ago, with a metal 2-gallon pump sprayer, I bought a Solo piston sprayer and loved it. Unfortunately the piston system wears and begins to lose functionality, so I bought the diaphragm model and love it. It has given me many years of dependable service. However, I'm getting older and the straps became uncomfortable on my shoulders so I bought a replacement "harness" with better shoulder padding and cross straps to align the shoulder straps. Problems solved and at age 72 I'm still going strong with it. ... show more

  • Too small
Unless you are the size of a 13 year old, this pack is too small for the handle to comfortably clear your sides. I really like it's pumping mechanics, but it needs to be bigger. Will just buy another hand pump.

  • Easy and comfortable to use. Good materials, good construction.
Easy to use, well built, good materials. This beats little squeeze bottles all hollow. You work the the lever a few times (very easy, no strain, comfortable) and the unit sprays for a long time. Really, it is effortless and you can cover a large area fast. There is no leaking whatsoever. They could have made the various tips for the nozzle easier to put on and off; you have to disassemble the tip a bit and a simple screw on/off would have been far better. That said, I think there is only one nozzle you will ever need, the one that sprays a flat fan shape. Don't know why, for example, anyone would want to spray a _stream_ of weedkiller. I fill the thing with it sitting on a table so that I can slip into the straps easily and walk away with it instead of bending down to get into it. For what it's worth I bought a knockoff of Roundup from Amazon and it gives excellent results. That would be Compare-N-Save Concentrate Grass and Weed Killer. The products are virtually the same chemically. ... show more

  • Easy to use and perfect size for spraying around in our garden.

  • Series of issues.
Right out of the box it was missing a piece that connected the pump handle to the diaphragm. I needed to use it in a hurry and couldn't wait for a replacement part to arrive so I had to fabricate a piece to make it work. Not a fan of the diaphragm design. It requires you to keep continuously pumping to keep it at a consistent level. This is a 4 gallon sprayer, but I never fully loaded it because the weight was just too much for the pathetic shoulder straps it shipped with. They aren't spaced right for an average build and they are too small, leading them to cut into you. I'm amazed they didn't break. For $80 I can't believe you don't get decent shoulder straps for what could be up to 40 lbs of weight, not to mention the downward force you need to apply on the unit to pump. ... show more
