The Mrs. has been starting her plants under lights for years. As she expands her planting interests her grow light system had also to expand. These lights and shelves now provide the right color (5,000 k) and quantity of light, which so far, have produced her best germination rate and a more rapid growth. Very pleased!

The instructions for assembly were lacking. One had to deduce how the items were put together. Regarding the light fixtures: The product instructions indicated that the chains suspending the lights were adjustable, although again, there were no descriptions to do so, also there was no mention of the plastic strip covering the lights. It was by accident that I discovered them as one was partially ripped. I removed it assuming it had been intended to protect the lights from scratching during transport. Apart from the above issues, once assembled I am pleased with the sturdiness of the stand, and the mobility afforded it with the wheels.

Mixed feelings on this one, but short of building your own unit from scratch (which would cost a LOT more) this seems to be the best of it's kind, in its size range. THE GOOD: There are two lights per shelf, so the light is spread out more front-to-back. That's important because LED's are extremely directional. Also, the total wattage per shelf is 36 watts. (I verified this with a watt meter.) While SOLIGT doesn't give a PAR rating, if these lights have the same spectrum and the same PAR per watt as other similar lights, this should give JUST enough umols to get tomatoes & peppers to the point where they can be transplanted outdoors. Almost every other unit for sale here falls short. THE BAD: 1 - As many have said, the shelf clips are a nightmare. I'm a handy guy, and it still took me all day long to finally get this unit put together in a way that is sturdy and will last. (Using channel locks, lots of glue, and sveral new curse words I invented for the occasion.) But now it's solid. 2 - The shelves seem upside-down, but that's what the instructions say to do. Why the heck do the raised edged point downwards instead of up? If up. they would stop and plants from being inadvertently pushed off the edge. There's no difference in strength. 3- The plastic "liners" are a joke. They're just flat pieces of vinyl. If you spill enough water, it will just run off the edges and fall to the floor. These liners should have raised sides. I will probably make my own out of this acryllic, but what a pain..... 4 - The lights are SORT OF height adjustable, but with lots of effort. (And no instruction on how to do it.) And hooking the chains to the top leaves little bumps in the top surface, so your trays won't lay flat. Here's a tip if you buy this unit: Use the OTHER end of the chain to connect to the clips. Then taking the "open hook" end, pull it through the side of the shelf, not the top. The pull that inwards and hook it to the chain. That open hook is thin enough to go into the chain links, and now you can very easily adjust the height. (You're welcome ! ) 5- The wiring is a mess. the pieces are WAY too long for connecting each pair of light to each other. The kit should include four much shorter connector wires. I cut mine down, but most people won't have the knowledge or tools to do that safely. 6- There is only ONE wire that ends in an ac socket. Therefore you cannot turn individual shelves on & off. In conclusion: I actually recommend this unit, unless you want to spend about 2X as much to build a better one from scratch. - But be prepared for some frustration.

This shelf is not only affordable but it has literally everything you need to support an indoor garden. The grow lights attach to one another so that you only need to plug in one end. And the best part-the automatic light that can be set to turn on and off at the exact hours you need for your plants. You just click down the black marks on the side of the dial and plug it in. The only thing I need to do now (other than watch and be amazed) is add some water every few days (I bottom water) and adjust the height of the lights as the stems grow.
