The PJ410N Puddle Jumper is a travel guitar with a solid Sitka spruce top and African mahogany back and sides. It collapses to 18.5 x 12.5 x 7 inches and assembles in 20 seconds. With a 23-inch scale, it’s portable and fun to play. The backpack fits under most airline seats. Despite its size, it delivers impressive volume and tone with tapered X-bracing. Weighing 3.7 lbs (6.07 lbs with the case), the PJ410N offers premium sound in the most portable form you'll find. On all our collapsible guitars you can easily adjust the action by either swapping out for a smaller saddle (provided with the guitar), modify the neck angle with the turn knob or fine-tune the relief with the dual-action truss rod. Easy to put together. You have to detune it pretty good to loosen the strings up enough to click it into place. But if you’re comfortable tuning your guitar pretty often like a guitar player needs to be anyway, it’s totally fine. I was surprised at the build quality of this. Very nice weight to it. Solid made. Mini head stock to cut down on length. Smooth, routered edges. Tight and strong tuners. Solid nut. Very nice sounding especially with these elixirs on here that it comes with. It sounded a little dull when I had it a few steps down but most acoustics do. Tuned up to standard or a half step down, it’s sounds really nice and clear and full. It does come with a nice case, but I have a decent size LL Bean “locker” backpack that this fits completely into so I can still throw more clothes and whatnot into for plane ride carry on. Surprisingly good sounding a easy to play. However, no place for a clip-on tuner. Action level is great, it feels durable and is good value for money. Only a slight string buzz when you don't tighten the screw. All in all, great thing and had no problems whatsoever taking it in the airplane!

I was honestly not expecting much. I did some quick searching for a travel guitar and found this one. I needed something quick as I travel in two more days. The guitar arrived on time packed in its little backpack. I was supriseed at how small a package it was that it came in. I followed the assembly instructions and made sure that the neck was seated properly. The string action is very nice. Its small size is comfortable. It was already damn near in tune on the first strum and through the tuning pegs are a little tight it tuned easily and stayed in tune as I played it for the next hour and a half. It is loud for its size. It plays very nicely and I am very happy with this guitar. The tone is the only negative aspect of this great little guitar but this is for me not an issue as I intend to use this to stay in practice during some long TDYs. It will definitely not replace my Zager as my main guitar but it will serve very nicely on my trips. ... show more

Don’t expect the sound or feel of a full size guitar. That said, it sounds pretty good for what it is. I purchased the puddle jumper with no electronics, but solid spruce top. Decent action after a small truss rod adjustment, works well at the beach or around a campfire. Easy to assemble/de-assemble and fit into backpack that fits under an airplane seat. A bit or room in pack for other carry on items. You can also put stuff inside the body while dis-assembled. Use caution as the nut can fall out while dis-assembled. Also seems to be hard on the strings so carry spares. The set screw on the locking wing nut also got loose and fell out - easy to put back in but don’t loose screw/wingnut/washer. They include an extra nut, allen key, and peg with the guitar which is nice. ... show more

I have a Martin travel guitar, that is the one like a strumstick. This guitar has the full body, it is only 12 frets/octave/ to the body, it is the size of a parlor guitar. This one has a better sound than the Martin Strumstick style guitar. No bass on that guitar, too small a body. This sounds great and holds a tune as long as temperature and humidity are constant. If it varies much, the guitar will need tuning, but so what. It is easy to take down and set back up. The travel bag is nice. Small bag for a guitar! Amazing. No need to loosen strings, etc. The large wing nut on the back gets tightened up after initial set of neck. To remove, loosen wing nut, THEN the button will loosen the neck. Very secure, solid neck set. You get two bridges, one taller. The taller one is fine, the shorter one was too short and would buzz strings. ... show more

I LOVE this guitar. It really does fit under the seat on an airplane, but just barely, so double check the specifics for your plane before you travel. After you attach the neck to the body and tune it, gently tug the strings and retune. You probably have to tug and retune two or three times, then it will stay in tune while you play. ... show more

Action needs to improve & intonation (strings height is far away from fret making it hard to press. I do like the sound when strumming but again, my wrist is working harder to press on chords. I love the concept as I travel quite a bit and bring my guitar everyone I go. I have 4 guitars and have looked at travel options and was happy to find on Amazon. I wish the design was better, it will help to those guitar players who use fingers instead of strumming. Specially if perform your wrist will not hold. The sound is nice. Just received my Puddle Jumper guitar. Since it's winter time here, I let it warm up a bit before putting it together. So far so good. I'm just a little past being a beginner, but I've been wanting a guitar I can travel with. I think this is going to work great! Just make sure to follow the instructions and tighten it as best you can to get a good action on it. Be patient as you tune it up as well :) I also contacted the manufacturer via their website.
