  • Arrived damaged…
It arrived damaged, the ends of the packaging tube had busted out and the end of the slide was scraped up like by concrete. The rail that the tarp slides into on the camper was bent and scraped up. Sent it back and waiting for the funds to enter my bank account so I can order it again.

  • Terrible installation instructions, and lacking proper product description
This is a decent quality product, but the combination of a product description that lacks the information necessary to help you purchase the correct size, and installation instructions that leave out certain very important pieces of information, make it a piece of hot garbage. Let's start with the product description. As far as I can tell, they only give you two pieces of information on the size of the unit; overall length, and the width (length, really) of the fabric. There is nothing to tell you what RANGE of SLIDE lengths it will actually fit. As it turns out, this is very important. Because the next size up was quite a bit longer than my slide and I was worried it would not fit, I went with one that was just a little bit shorter than my overall slide length (including the flange), knowing that the fabric wouldn't actually extend past the sides of the actual slide. I knew this could be a problem in terms of allowing a little rainwater onto the top of the slide, but assumed it wouldn't affect the actual installation. I was wrong. Once installed, you will find that there is enough "slop" in the fitment of the parts that it will allow the hardware on the end of the drum to impact the flange if it isn't installed such that the end of the drum extends well BEYOND the flange on both sides. This would have been very easy to clarify in the description: "Fits slides XX"-XX" long", with the explanation that the measurement should include the flange. What happens when the drum impacts the flange? Well, look at my photos to see what it did to my BRAND NEW trailer. I was able to redrill holes and take out some of the slop with higher quality fasteners, but it's still dangerously close. Now, let's talk about the instructions. Don't get me wrong, this would have been downright impossible without them, but it'd also be impossible if you followed them to the T. It is necessary to deviate a bit in order to get this thing installed. Fortunately for me, I had another RV with a similar slide-cover installed that I could reference to at least figure out which direction to install the drum. But that doesn't help you with things like figuring out which fasteners go where. Notice in my photos of the instructions that, while the fasteners are labeled with letters on the second page, they are not labeled in the actual drawings. It's easy enough to figure it out if you're reasonably handy, but as a lot of the screws are self-tapping and of odd sizes, you kind of only get one chance with them. So, if you try the wrong one first, you're totally screwed (no pun intended). Most importantly, they don't mention anywhere, as far as I saw, that there are two retainer clips that prevent the drum from spinning, which must be removed before you operate the slide. Additionally, removing them, unrolling the slide a bit, and them reinstalling them to create some slack will GREATLY ease installation, and help ensure everything aligns correctly. I wish I'd know this, as it would have saved me from extending the slide with them still installed and ripping out the mounting brackets on my slide, creating holes in my BRAND NEW trailer. Overall, it's a good product, but it's probably worth a call to Lippert to ensure you're getting the correct size, and you might want to see if there are any YouTube videos out there that show the nuances of installation. The one bright side of the installation is that it only took me about two hours (and would have been less than an hour if I'd had better instructions and hadn't had to uninstall it and basically do it all over again), and I was easily able to get the thing into the rail by myself despite the fact that it says you need "at least two people". Quality once installed appears to be pretty good. Not that it matters, because it's not like there are many alternatives to Lippert these days. ... show more

  • It does the job
We bought two of these to cover our slide. They were delivered quicker than expected. We unpacked them and laid out the parts and pieces. Of course there isn't enough hardware included. SMH, why does this seem to happen more often lately. Funny thing is it was the same with both of the slide covers too. We made due with what we had. There is no contact for this product to request what you would need, so hope you get the required hardware. The directions are somewhat vague. The neglect a few key items. We found a video to watch before we did our install and were grateful we did. The first one is the direction in which to install the railing. Pay close attention to the picture and you will see that the side with the screws faces down. The second one is to remove the pin on both ends of the cover so that you can extend it when installing it into the brackets. There is no mention of these pins in the directions. If you do not remove them you cannot install the cover into the brackets. You are welcome! Other than that they were pretty easy to install. Took us like a hour and a half. We would recommend this product but do your research and make sure you have all the hardware to complete the project before you start! ... show more

  • Easy enough to install!
I bought this to install over our bedroom slide. Although I installed it by myself, another ladder and person would have been helpful and not just to help guide the topper into place. I was up & down, up & down, move ladder here, move it there. That night, my legs were so tired, but I slept good. The only thing my expensive alpine had, that I could have used during the install was the gutter, which had the slot for the anchor side of the topper, but then it would of had hardly any pitch or angle to allow rain runoff. So, I left gutter alone and installed the long bracket thing 3 inches above gutter. Being by myself, I used the kitchen slide to hold the weight of the topper as I slid it into that long bracket thing. I highly recommend watching the Solara install video on you tube or etrailer for helpful tips. ... show more

  • Quality of packaging
Product was excellent and installation went fast and easy. The only improvement needed is better packaging and shipping. Packaging was damaged but luckily the awning was not. The awning retainer that is mounted onto the camper was the only thing bent in shipping. But we did not need it because our camper had one already installed. The cardboard tube that held awning and equipment was sealed on one end but not on other. The tube had a hole punched in it two different places. One looked to be a hand hold because the tube was 16 feet long and the second one looked just to be damaged by just throwing into truck. ... show more

  • Great protection for slide out
I was nervous about install but very easy to install. Watched a video on youtube. Super easy to install. Needed my wife just to assist sliding the fabric in the slot when time came. Maybe took 1 hour total. Great protection for slide out to protect my Rv.

  • 2nd times a charm
Bought this for my GEO Pro Travel Trailer slide. The first time I order this, it came in a box, was missing the hardware (brackets, rail and screws). I noticed that some reviews said it did not come with the awning rail. The second order, was very well packed in a single heavy round cardboard tube. When I unpacked it, I found it contained everything I needed for installation except the butyl tape, which I was not expecting anyway. After installation, the tension on the brackets when fully extended seemed a bit much, appeared the screws were going to pull out. I ended up backing the roller off 3 turns to release some of that. Looks good and works great. Bottom line....don't settle with NOT receiving all of the hardware with your order. Frustrating, but keep reordering until you get what you pay for. ... show more
