Used this six piece set on my 230 watt large solar panel. Put two screws at each corner. Side ones I just used stand alone adhesive black color silicone to reduce holes in roof. Adhesive silicone provided is of good grade. Used Mr rv lap silicone as well for good measure. Really are nice brackets. I hope they hold up to the sun. Time will tell? ... show more

I use somed self tapping screws to attach the solar panel and used eterna bond tape. It seems very secure and looks nice.

First - these are terrific solar panel mounts: Well-built of sturdy material and they look great. I have two comments: 1) No means of attaching the panel to the mounts is provided and 2) the sealant material provided is black - even with white mounts. About the first - the panel cannot simply lay in the mounts and be expected to stay there when driving around in your RV. I used 3/4" angle brackets and self-tapping screws (another trip to the Home Depot). The black sealant is a common complaint. That said - I recently purchased a second-set of these mounts. They're good - just know that you will need something else to attach the panel. And buy some white sealant beforehand. Using the black sealant provided was - messy UPDATE - while I do not necessarily agree that the Product Page is descriptive (enough) I CAN SAY that this seller is VERY RESPONSIVE. I really appreciate that. I did not entirely agree that the documentation was sufficient - but my solution was adequate and the Seller and I have exchanged many messages. For that I say - Thank You! I installed these brackets with a solar panel on my travel trailer today. Seems like a good quality item. I was able to trim a quarter inch off one edge of the brackets with a table saw to get them to fit better on the roof . Due to other stuff on the roof it ended up too close to the edge. Drilled holes in the brackets with a drill press to mount to the solar panel with 1/4” stainless steel bolts and nylock nuts and washers. The material seems to be a thermoplastic and gets soft when hot from drilling or cutting. Sands smooth with sandpaper after it cools and hardens again at the cut edges and the drilled holes. Heavy construction and looks like it should last with no issues. I would buy this again. (I’m a mechanical engineer so I’m very critical) ... show more

I was concerned about adhesion when installing the first two panels. That's no longer a concern of mine as I mount two more panels. I'm certain I could pull hard enough to break the bond somewhere between the plastic frame and the rubber roof or the rubber roof and the plywood but why? The panels are not subjected to that kind of force. 24 hours of cure seems reasonable before attaching the panels to the frames. I do support the far end of the frame as the self tapping screws want to separate the plastic pieces from the aluminum panel. Other than supplying white RTV as others have observed I like the product. I have waited several days, 3 or more before driving to provide for full cure. ... show more
