I hired a IT company to install a driveway announcer was $450, buried sensor, a transmitter at the entrance to th drive and a receiver in house. Worked intermittently, fancy batteries, very frustrating. This "Chtiocy" solar wireless driveway alarm was easy to install AND WORkS! My driveway is winding fairly lengthy and is in deep woods and it transmitted to the house receiver perfectly the first time I tried it and keeps working perfectly. I’m very pleased with this unit, especially with the solar capability to recharge the battery. It was an expensive easy to install, and thus far works perfectly. I mounted the transmitter pole on a square pressure treated 1.5 inch board for stability rather than just stick it in the ground but that isn’t necessary. ... show more

So I live in the country and wanted this to protect my front drive. Everything worked great for a couple weeks then unit began to shut off on its own. I tried resetting and testing it. It seemed to be working but VERY difficult to tell if its really on. Well one night couple of meth heads drove onto property and unit DID NOT work! Luckily dog woke me up. Held them at gun point until sheriff arrived. Turns out they had weapons and were connected to several home invasions. DO NOT BUY IF TRUSTING YOUR HOME DEFENSE TO THIS.     • It does what it says, must transmitter/receiver must be line of site

For the price it works well and does what it says it will do. However, and it’s a big however for me, the receiver and transmitter must be very near line of site for it to work. Also, there can’t be too much in the way that will interfere with the radio waves. In my situation, my house is on up a bit of hill. The transmitter (which is attached to the sensor via a long cable) has to be about three feet off the ground and the receiver high in the window for it to reliably work. This essentially line of sight from one to the other. If the receiver is on a desk near the window it works about 50% of the time, and if I put the transmitter on the supplied pole it almost never works regardless of where the receiver is. Luckily for me, I have lights at the end of my driveway and am able to mount the transmitter higher and still somewhat discreetly. In my situation, the receiver and transmitter are no more than 300 feet apart. The only other comment I’ll add is that the alarm volume can only be set to a few increments. I really haven’t found the sweet spot and have settled for one that’s a bit louder than I’d like. ... show more

In 14 months the solar elements has kept both units charged and they do work from a good distance. By good, I would measure with my trucks odometer not footsteps. I may do so in the future.
