Catches mosquitoes and all sorts of gnats that you didn't know existed. I like the USB charging feature and the little charging light that goes from red to blue when the battery is charged. I haven't caught a lot of mosquitoes-- 90% of the catch are random gnats. Big moths don't come through the grill, which is good. Also, the handle is easy to unhook. We'll see how this device stands the test of time!

I live in Florida, so plenty of sunlight and rain to go around. I got this to reduce mosquito issues from the local pond and it does work to draw in bugs... But after the 5th rain storm, it doesn't turn on anymore. Furthermore, I'd turn it on at night but it dies in just a few hours. I wish there was a good solar one that could charge during the day and run during the night. The rating was due to it dying in rain despite the advertisement. I never charged it so it shouldn't have come into contact with any weak spots.

Update - Sadly, one has stopped working in less than two months. Iβve went around the block to get a replacement and I am not having any luck!! Super bummed Iβm down to one zapper. βββββββββ- We live on a lake and have many bug hatches that pepper our windows, itβs quite awful. Bought these hoping to draw the bugs away from the house and boy do they work great!! Our windows look great and all the bugs βgo to the lightβ and stay off our windows and screens. I just leave them outside in the sun and they charge wonderfully.

I purchased this bug zapper for use on my deck, but ended up using it in the kitchen for fruit flies. It works per the number of bugs found in it after leaving it on for a number of days. But I still had the fruit flies flying around. I took care of these with yellow (they're attracted to the color yellow) sticky traps placed near food (fruit, cider vinegar left out to attract them). The sticky traps were very effective. I will try this out on the deck and report back, but don't see how it would be more effective outside.
