  • GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO THE LUME CUBE!
Color: Black
I saw the Lume Cube on tv and was impressed until I saw the price. 100 Bucks wasn't gonna work for me so I found this item and researched the reviews...All I can say is WOW!!!! Makes a Great difference! $60 Cheaper and No I can buy 2 for less than a Lume Cube! Of course no wifi online app but who cares..I submerged it in water to test if it was really waterproof and works like a charm! Made of aluminum all around. Sturdy and with every penny! ... show more

  • Excellent light but low quality diffusers
Color: Black
Update (04/12/2019): I communicated with the seller that the diffusers are poor quality with cracked corners. They immediately informed me that they would send replacements. I just received them today. All corners are cracked on the replacements. I do not recommend this seller if you’re seeking a light with diffusers. If you don’t care about the diffusers, then it’s an excellent light. But since it’s sold as a bundle and the replacement was worse than the diffusers that the light came with, I removed a star from the review. Down to three stars. Original Review: Excellent Video Light! I’m a food blogger and this light has helped tremendously in lighting food that I post on my social media. With that said, the diffusers are very low quality. The corners that hold the magnets have cracked just from removing and placing three diffusers on the Video light. Magnets fall out due to this. If it weren’t for the defective diffusers, this would get 5 stars. ... show more

  • Great for Vlogging // Was an Excellent value Before Lume Black Friday Sale // Good customer service
Color: Black
With about 90% of the functionality but at nearly half the cost of the Lume Cube when I got it in May 2019, this was a good deal. I use it as a run and gun, which has paired very nicely with my weatherproof camera and lens setup for making vlog style youtube videos. It can work as a fill or as a main light in pitch black darkness to illuminate subjects that are in talking range. It can easily replace a flashlight and works heaps and bounds better than a cellphone light. I would 100% get it again back then. Not so much now on Black Friday since Lume is running sales. The Lume Cube Air is the same price as this. I have just picked up the Lume Cube Air, which I now think is the better buy for the same price but wouldn't be worth it at the original or even for $15 more unless you need the extra water proofing of the original Cube or brightness. I'll address the main shortcomings and why it mostly doesn't matter It's lacking the magnets -- you can easily get magnetic tape for the money you saved. You need a coin or something top open the screw and can lose it too -- you can put it on the magnetic tape or just have it taped up. But I believe it's also more secure and waterproof because of it. Sokani has 65ft rating vs 30ft rating of the Lume Cube Air. The original Cube uses the same screw in design and is rated for 100ft. No blootooth - I never needed it or wanted it. For professional lighting setups, that would be handy where the light is far out but for vlogs and close work? Nah... Not as bright** (see edit, Sokani is much brighte) - Sokani has 200lux @1m vs 400 for the Lume Cube Air but it's still very bright for vlogging and using within several feet. It may be too bright for close work @25%. People who got the Cube Air computer set are saying it's too bright even at the lowest setting. Having a brighter light would help at farther distances but it's effectiveness is limited by the wide throw of these types of lights, so I think we're talking a few more feet at most. I'll have to test it when the Lume Cube Air arrives, but if you're shooting farther away, that might make a huge difference but makes no difference at shorter ranges and may actually be better. Battery life - running the Cube Air at 50% is 200lux @1m and that runs for 2 hours, which is equivalent to running this at 100% which only lasts an hour. This supposedly lasts 12 hours at 25%. Not sure what the max runtime of the Air is. USB charging - never used this feature but apparently, it can't be used at 100% brightness (unlike Lume). Diffusers. The first ones broke just snapping it on. I contacted CS and they mailed out 2 replacements. I have since lost them. It must have rubbed off somewhere. I'm not sure how good the diffusers are on the Lume Cube but I have just ordered it and will see. Warranty - Lume comes with a 1 year warranty. No word on Sokani. When I contacted them a month or so after the purchase, they replaced the diffusers. I probably won't ask them for another one and just use the extra from the Lume. Quality wise, mine has been bombproof for 6 months, so I can't attest to others saying it stopped working or have broken, etc., FYI, both seem to have mixed reviews for service though. Some Pros of the Sokani compared to the Lume Cube Air Higher CRI (95% vs 90%) Price/Value (non-sale price) Waterproofness (65 vs 30feet under water rating) **Edit: just got the Lume Cube Air, which is the closest Lume priced competitor. While on paper, the Lume Cube Air is twice as bright, there's no way. My copy of the Sokani is the one that's twice as bright! The only thing better with the Lume Cube Air is that it's much smaller and lighter. Pictured is the Lume Cube Air on the Left and this Sokani on the right at the same brightness levels. (Sorry for the bed, throwing stuff on the bed to pack for a trip). ... show more

  • MINE WERE NOT WATERPROOF - avoid for diving
Color: Black
I bought these to dive at 30-35 feet. They are advertised as waterproof to 65feet. At 25 feet, the first one "popped" and failed. The second one (both mounted on a gopro dual mount chassis, popped at 30feet. Bubbles came out of the button area. DO NOT BUY these if you are diving or swimming. They are only rated at 65 feet (which was fine for me since i was diving in a pool and aquarium no deeper than 35 feet) and they failed hard. Im super surprised they didint just catch fire after being out of the water as they were extremely hot fro the water shorting the batteries. I applied for a return. I need to call AMAZON customer support because i am a bit worried about shipping these back to them with shorted lithium batteries. UPDATE: ADDED A PIC. note the brown goo coming form the button. I assume this is battery goo. I let these sit upside down in a tall glass. water simply dripped out of them overnight. They were FULL of water. these units i received are ABSOLUTELY NOT WATERPROOF TO ANY DEGREE. ... show more

  • Well made lights
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic product for the cost. I like the fact it has 4 different levels of brightness. I’ve tested this in my home and the brightness is very very good

  • Great cuatomer service!
Color: Black
Upped the review to 5 stars. The replacement works fantastic, sometimes a bad unit slips by QC. I purchased two of these. One worked for about 3 minutes then shut off and refused to ever turn on again, even after attempting to charge overnight. Shipped it back for replacement. The 2nd one worked great, it seemed. There was a comment in the questions stating it could be powered via USB on the three lower settings. However after a few minutes it dims itself to a very low level. I am hoping the manufacturer checks these, we can still get a solid 4 if customer service is solid but so far things are not looking good. ... show more

  • Small form factor with a BIG PUNCH!
Color: Black
I really didn't expect this light to pack the punch it does. It's every bit as bright as my larger filming lights...if thats too bright for your use, it comes with the diffuser and color gels already! It's super easy to use, one button turns it on, changes the brightness/modes, and turns it off. As far as the waterproofing, I haven't needed to test that...BUT the construction of the door/cap that covers the charging port seems very good, I doubt it would leak. My favorite thing about the light is the contsruction. Although it only weighs 80g, its made of metal and has a nice black finish to it. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy in the least. I'm super happy with my Sokani X1. ... show more
