I got this for my husband for his home gym and he enjoys this set a lot. The pin to switch the weight stacks is well made and doesn't slip or loosen while using these. He is easily able to transition between weights to add or remove and hasn't had any issues with these at all. For him this was a very good value for the cost comparing them to the adjustable Bowflex option which was a bit more costly. 8/10 for him ... show more

As far as adjustable dumbbells go, this design like many others that are identical works well and is easy and generally convenient to use. The weight selection is a little goofy, given that it goes like this: 5lbs -> 10lbs -> 20lbs -> 35lbs -> 45lbs -> 55lbs. Odd range of jumps, but not a deal breaker by any means. The grip itself is a plastic surface, same as the rest of the dumbbell (minus the plates), but I've no issue with grip even with sweaty hands. But given the mostly plastic construction, I don't recommend dropping these at all. The plates do jingle and jangle a fair bit in motion because of their spacing, but that's going to be an almost universal experience because otherwise re-racking would be a nightmare. And speaking of, re-racking this dumbbell is fairly easy but can take a little jiggling around sometimes before it properly seats, but it's certainly easier than others I've tried. I think overall it's a fine piece of equipment, but I do consider adjustable dumbbells to fall under the category of "buy once cry once." These dumbbells have no expansion option or capability. With the plastic end caps, magnetic addon weights aren't really a feasible option. These dumbbells also maintain the same foot print even when on the lowest setting; so 5lbs is the same length as 55lbs, making certain movements more difficult. It may be wise to save up to buy something that goes heavier, can be expanded in some fashion, and allows for size reduction when plates are removed. These will certainly get the job done, but there are probably better options for most people. ... show more

This is a Chinese rebranded generic adjustable dumbbell. Does this make it a bad product? Definitely not. It's really solid and easy to use. Turning the weights to adjust is a breeze and the cost-performance is up there. A quick amazon search puts these are some of the most affordable for the weight. Also it says "DUMBBELL", invokes a small smirk every time. Five stars for the cost-performance, ease of use, build quality, and a big ol' sticker that says DUMB BELL. ... show more

This is the most innovative design I've seen for a set like this. You simply rotate the handle while it's sitting in the base and it adjusts the weight for you. It's amazing. I do have a concern however. The way it clips in seems to rely on a single hard plastic clasp, which isn't ideal. It should be an entire molded plastic slot. What happens if the handle rotates while you're using it? What happens if a weight slips out while lifting it? It's a bit scary to think about. I've used it for a while now and that has not happened, but I can't help but think of it as a possibility. Be careful when using this just in case. ... show more
