Our cat uses these, preferring them over everything else. Sigh of relief. We have a leather couch, because our 2 indoor cats aren't interested in scratching it. Then, last year, a third, outdoor/indoor cat adopted us. And, boy, does she love to use our leather couches as scratching posts. We were living with multiple cardboard scratching platforms surrounding our couch and faux fur pet blankets on the couch. Just trying to keep something, anything, between her claws and the couch. It was an eyesore and a tripping hazard. Then, I took a chance on the Sofa Scratcher. I invested in 2, strategically placed. She goes for them over the couch! They are really well built, easy to assemble, fit the corners of the couch well, and stay in place when she scratches them. Plus, they aren't tripping hazards and are aesthetically pleasing as cat scratchers go. I am so happy I purchased these. They are a little pricier than some other options, but the quality completely makes up for it. So much cheaper than a new couch, and our cat is happy to boot.     • Most seamless solution to the scratching feline

To prevent my cat scratching my sofa I had used my own blankets over the corners in order to protect it. My cat is not the most aggressive of scratchers so I was mostly lucky in that regard but she would still scratch the felt underneath my sofa in order to get my attention. Between that and the blankets not being a good look, I decided to try these. I'm happy to say they have been a resounding success so far. The cat seems to be attracted to scratching these and whenever she wants my attention they are her target, alleviating concerns about damage to the sofa. An extra callout I would make is they obviously look better than blankets but I was also happy to find a comparable color (charcoal). I had to purchase four to cover all the necessary areas so the price was a bit daunting but they have been worth it for sure. The scratchers were not very carefully packaged and one of them came out of alignment but I was able to work around this when assembling them even if it was more of a pain than it should have been. In closing I would for sure recommend you give this product a try if you want to protect your furniture! ... show more

UPDATE 7/25/2020: We now own four of these sofa scratchers. (I have four sofas and far too many cats) I’ve had zero functionality issues. My sofa(s) have never felt uneven due to the acrylic base. None of the acrylic bases has ever broken when I’ve placed my furniture on it and then sat on the furniture - all bases are still intact. I did need to buy a piece of plexiglass for the sofa scratcher that I got for my reclining sectional because the “foot” on the sectional sits farther back than on a traditional sofa. I used the base that came with the sofa scratcher as a guide and just cut out a longer base. And it works like a dream. As you can see in the second photo the sofa scratcher comes up higher on the sectional that my other sofa but, for us, this isn’t an issue. I’ll be ordering two more next month for the fourth sofa. These are ingenious and I’m sad that I didn’t think them in to being. If you’re on the fence, seriously, buy them. Despite having two scratching posts and a cat tree with scratching posts our cats had destroyed the corner of our sofa. The company that made our sofas offers custom slip covers but they are $600 and we just weren’t willing to pay that kind of money right now. Enter this baby here! I had read all of the reviews and was a little scared that it wouldn’t be sturdy but, it is. It doesn’t fit super tight to the sofa at the top but you can’t tell unless your looking for it - my son didn’t notice it at all until I showed it to him. I got the brown and it’s almost a perfect match color wise. My cats were a tad leery of it on the first day but after they figured it out and rubbed on it a few times they love it. The screw holes in my unit were perfectly placed and aligned with the plexiglass base exactly as they should. We’ve had no problems with claws getting stuck or any of that business. Honestly, I wish I’d found it a long time ago so that the corner of my sofa wasn’t a mess. Lesson learned. If you are having problems with your fur babies scratching your furniture, give this a try. ... show more

This is an ingenious product. It perfectly fits the corner of my couch. The plexiglass base screws on easily and fits snuggly under the foot of my couch. It does not cause the couch to be wobbly or lopsided as some reviews suggest. But I think that is all dependent on what kind of couch you have and where the legs are placed. It was perfect for my couch. It totally eliminates cat scratching that was destroying the fabric of the couch. The cats used it immediately after I installed it, and have come back to scratch several times. This is definitely a furniture saver, and it comes in various colors to match or coordinate with your upholstery. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was price; it's a bit overpriced in my opinion. ... show more

Our new cat kept scratching at the back of our couch, which prompted me to look for alternatives. I read that deterrents alone don’t usually work (spray bottle, plastic covering, etc), and it’s helpful to have a scratching post in the area where your cat likes to scratch. So, I looked into this. It blends in with the sofa enough, and the cat doesn’t even bother the rest of the couch anymore. She loves the feel of this scratch post. Problem solved! So at first I thought this item was a little cheap due to the bottom piece, but it’s hidden under the couch, so you can’t see it anyways. It comes with little pads to put over the bottom screws so it doesn’t scratch your floor up. It was easy to put together, I slid it under the corner of the couch and bam, easy! The part that is visible looks pretty high quality. And it’s very sturdy (I’ve bumped into it several times and it hasn’t budged). I’m very happy with this purchase… so is the cat. :) ... show more

We have have two cats that have decided that the only piece of furniture not safe from their murderous claws.... You guessed it. My couch. Unfortunately for us, we initially tried going with something that was cheaper to try to protect our couch and after that not working I went ahead and purchased one of these. The item arrived in a timely manner. I was somewhat surprised by the size of the box. It was pretty big. Everything was in the box and nicely packaged. We put it together and I loved it so much I bought another one! I'll be ordering a third one next week. I'll say the only thing that you really need to be careful of you have hardwood floors that you don't flop down on the couch where you have them at as it will move. Over all I'm very pleased. It gives my cats something to stretch and scratch on but also protects my couch. The piece is really sturdy. It will smell a little funny at first for being wrapped in the shrink wrap, but that smell goes away. It was easy to assemble. **Update** I have received the 3rd one and couldn't be happier!!! This is a life saver! Very well-kept made, cats love it and its protecting my sofa like a champ! It doesn't look cheap and I don't think they will be destroying it anytime soon.     • Not bad but falls short

I love the idea of this. Give the cats something appropriate to scratch on, located in a spot they like to scratch, and protect the furniture. The sisal material is nice, but unfortunately this scratcher is several inches too short to be as effective as it should/could be. Cats like to be able to stretch up to scratch, and ours were reaching over the top of this before they were even fully grown. They are not large breed cats either. We have to put a blanket along the top of the couch and let it hang down over the unprotected area above the scratcher. Also the acrylic base which anchors the post under the couch leaves a lot to be desired. The scratcher had a tendency to lean out away from the couch, and then the base broke off after a couple months. We replaced it with a piece of plywood (larger than the acrylic piece that came with it) and a few longer screws and it seems to be holding for now, but this type of DIY modifications shouldn't be necessary at this cost. ... show more
