It’s never fun refilling this thing. Just the stiff turning of it makes it feel like a real chore! Not a good feeling in the middle of snow shoveling. Maybe look for a better one.

A lot of shakers out there are pretty tiny and you need to refill it to cover your driveway and sidewalk. Not this one. It holds a generous amount of salt. I also use it in the spring to spread grass seed on bald patches

It works well for me. I have a really long sidewalk (100ft?), so it would be better if it held 7lbs instead of 5. But my only real gripe is that the body is relatively smooth. It's easy to hold a pretty big. It's OK nothing special. I use it to distribute deicer and find that I have to use the largest holes for that and shake it pretty hard. There's nothing wrong with it. I just didn't love it enough to give it five stars so I gave it four. You can use just one hand to shake it and distribute the stuff. ... show more

I really like this product. I think the idea & design are great, but the dial to adjust how the granules come out is difficult to change/rotate (especially after the dust from the ice-melt is in it)! I would definitely recommend this product with the disclosure of the difficulty of use.

Living in Wisconsin this is a must have. I used to carry an ice cream bucket filled with ice melt, and sprinkle the ice melt the best I could using an old measuring cup. This product is a game changer. It is bigger than expected and holds allot of ice melt. The large handle and lip make spreading so easy, much faster, and the distribution is much more even.
