I was really worried about this laser holding zero based on the Internet Reviews. So to test it, I put it on my old AR-10 style rifle in .308. It seemed to sight in fine and hold zero. I only shot about 30 rounds but it held. The rifle is direct impingement so although the recoil is higher, it won't destroy optics like a piston driven rifle. I was also worried, because of reports on the internet, that the bolt that attaches the sight to the gun would strip. But I guess SMS addressed this by changing to a Grade 12.9 bolt (Which is a very strong and more expensive steel). So stripping the bolt or shearing it shouldn't be an issue anymore. Finally, was worried that the beam would split due to having dust inside the lens as was reported on the Internet. Buy my unit had no problem with this. The laser and illuminator was clean. Both the visible and IR had no issues with artifacts. The green laser is actually very useful for me for some robotics projects that I'm building. So after unlocking the unit, you can get a full powered and adjustable laser and illuminator. The ergonomics are great for me. It holds up to .308 recoil, although I ultimately moved it to my AR-15 rifle which has much less recoil. So, so far, so good. I hope the SMS Trinity succeeds and SMS stays around for the long run because if this product keeps performing over time, then they've completely disrupted the market by selling such a good laser/illuminator at so low of a price. Almost all the other laser/illuminators are obsolete because of this. I don't want to spend nearly $4000 on a ripoff MAWL. My extremely complex but reliable Google Pixel 3a smartphone cost $350, and I've used it for nearly a decade. Why can't much simpler to manufacture laser aiming device cost $350?

Solid performance. Rivals lasers at 2x its price point. Battery life is decent. Very bright. Intuitive controls. Illuminator goes narrow to flood. Easily attach to pic rail or use a provided m-lok adapter. Weight is on the heavier side but it feels like it’s built like a tank. I bought 2 more. It seems to hold zero so far after 500 rds of 5.56.

Does not hold zero. Use it with 556 Rifle. POI bounce around on every shot. Returned it and got a Holosun instead. You get what you pay for.

I’ve owned a few SMS Laser products before, so I’d been looking forward to getting the Trinity for a while. Finally got one in hand, and I have to say, it was worth the wait. It’s definitely not cheap, but the overall quality is hard to complain about. The finish looks great, the body feels solid, and the little details are done really well. I especially like the control layout and the knobs, they feel clean, responsive, and well thought out. Even the included cable feels nice and actually useful, which is something a lot of companies overlook. Overall, really happy with it. You can tell a lot of care went into making this one.

I bought this item as I’ve seen a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately there has been some issues with QC on these items so if you get a good unit, then it’s a lucky day. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t the case, I’ve reached out the SMS tech support about having issues with poi shifting and won’t hold zero and on top of that, the windage and elevation knobs are funky, they don’t always work as they were designed. There were few instances that I had to remount the unit so I can get it to line up correctly. After reaching out to SMS I was told that since it was purchased though Amazon that I need to contact the company that sold me this unit for product support and technical issue. Which doesn’t make sense. Hope this helps.

First time buying from SMS Laser and honestly impressed. What got me at first was the look of it. Very clean, aggressive design, lots of nice machining details, and that mechanical style just looks really good. In hand, feels solid. Nice weight, great finish, everything feels tight and well put together. Knobs feel good, cable is actually nice too, not some cheap throw in accessory. Definitely leaves a strong first impression. Would buy from them again.
