Love it!!
Color: Brown Style: Music Player
It's so "simple" to use! I highly recommend it for people with dementia and special needs adults or children. Normal radios and music players were to confusing for my mom to operate. She has moderate dementia and loves listening to her music. The labels that come with the box are in English and several other languages which is wonderful. I put on the English and German labels for her. There wasn't any label for the black skip button though, I have to make one to remind mom. I tell every one know about this fantastic invention! The only glitch I have run into is I can't load songs with my Chrome laptop and my Android phone. Loading the songs with my desktop was pretty easy. I need to contact the company and see if there is a way to use anything other than the desktop. The music seems to calm mom down and I don't want to take it away to load more songs. This is a great piece of equipment. Well worth the money. It sounds really good and feels sturdy. We've had it for 2 months, so far so good! ... show more

I only wish I knew of this player sooner
Color: Red Style: Music Player
For those of you with parents that find using cd players and radios difficult to use, you should consider this player. I got it for my mom who has dementia and hasn’t been able to use a cd player for years. This is simple enough for her to be able to read and see that she just needs to lift the lever to play music. Volume setting is easy to do, but does make it hard for others unfamiliar with the product to know how to adjust the volume. But that was done so for reason so the person using it doesn’t have to deal with fumbling with the volume. It sounds well and works well. If I were to have to find a con, it would have to be about the preloaded music. My mom is 80 and she’s too young for the music that comes preloaded. Her prime time would have been more of the 60s, not the 30s and 40s. I personally stream all my music and so I found it very difficult to find music from the 60s. I’m not from that time. Sure, I can download music from the Beatles. But I’m sure there were many many more artist from that time. I did come across a good number of “hits from the 60s” albums that I could download from Apple and Amazon and Google, but none were from the original artists despite how hard they tried to deceive me. I finally searched around online and found a website that has 100 hits from the 60s all from original recordings. Anyway, I just wish we could have these preloaded. Or provide websites of where and how to get this music. ... show more

I'll recommend this a lot!
Color: Green Style: Music Player
Perfect for those with mobility issues, not just memory. The look of this speaker is simple and vintage looking and the color is a bright, cheery green. The sound is exceptional. My only complaint is that I wish the volume was a bit more accessible. The directions were clear and with a little tech know how, it was fairly easy to load with a very large amount of content. The price was decent for a speaker of this quality. ... show more

Good quality
Color: Green Style: Music Player
Great idea and good quality, allows my dad to listen to music again since he can’t operate a normal radio anymore. We did take off the music that came with it (he’s in his 80s but the music on there was from before his day) But it was pretty easy to add songs that he would enjoy. Sound quality is very good. ... show more

Easy for someone with dementia to use.
Color: Red Style: Music Player
I am so happy with this player, it will be easy for her to use. It was easy to download the songs that my aunt will love. We even added some songs that her and her husband played for others in nursing homes years back. There is something about hearing music that brings a person back to a life of happiness again. ... show more

I wanted to love it BUT
Color: Red Style: Music + Radio Player
The overall box is well made and if it worked it would have been wonderful. For the life of me I could not get the external stick to work, nor could I upload to it. The radio is OK but for the price it is NOT OK. The On/Off button didn't work very well either, it barely popped up and it was difficult to get it to turn on. I could not get it to preset stations so essentially it is a standard portable radio in a nice box. The sound was fair at best, I just purchased a regular radio/cd player that sounds so much better for less than half the price. Great Idea from the manufacturer however the execution and support are lacking ... show more

Excellent for folks with dementia!
Color: Red Style: Music Player
This made my Mom's birthday. It's easy to operate, and she loved the Elvis songs I added to the unit after removing the pre-programmed music. Great find!

Music player does not function
Color: Red Style: Music + Radio Player
UPDATE: SMPL support returned my call the following day. The problem was that a meta data file (4K size, “.-filename.mp3) was added for each mp3 file…this confused the player. I simply deleted each of these 4K meta files and the player worked great. Refer to the problem stated below. The Radio/Music combination player did not function in “Music” USB mode. The USB drive that came with the unit was dead that should have contained the 40 songs (not readable by a PC either). A compatible USB drive (32 GB, FAT32 format with only 4 MP3 songs loaded with no other files) did work correctly on the first song; however, at the 2nd song, the volume buttons and Back/Next buttons and the Radio/Music switch all stopped working. Only the On/Off button worked at this point. Turning the unit back on restarts at the first song (not where you left off. This was the 2nd SMPL unit purchased through Amazon. The first was the “Lift” unit that only played songs from an internal memory drive (not a removable USB drive). THe internal drive only had 2 songs and someone else had loaded an incompatible song format. Since recordings often require different volume levels, this unit’s design is not usable as it does not allow the user to change volume (only during setup using a stylus to press small, recessed buttons on the back). ... show more
