This blender looks beautiful but functions no better, perhaps worse than, an inexpensive Oster or Hamilton Beach blender. I couldn't resist the beautiful form and have now owned two of these that have underperformed when they were fully functional and became non functional within a year of purchase. The plastic gear mechanism does not hold up to daily use, the o-ring in the pitcher if problematic is not replaceable (ours leaks although we have assembled, cleaned, reassembled) the pitcher lid has a cut out so you can add ingredients while blending...theoretically...it is impossible to remove while the lid is secured to the pitcher), the settings markers have all rubbed off so you have to guess what setting you are at. I have both the Smeg toaster and electric kettle which I highly recommend. If you can live with the appearance of a blend tech or vitamix, i would go with one one those instead of the Smeg ... show more
