I use this product exactly as directed and find it does exactly what it says it will: It keeps fountain water fresh and clean. Although I am very careful about measuring the product appropriate to the exact amount of water in my fountains reservoirs, I'm fairly confident you don't have to be that precise. I have both indoor and outdoor fountains. My fountains are Feng Shui fountains and vary considerably in their gallon capacity and size. They are all set for "just the right" flow consistent with my intention for their area of placement. Before using this product, I would experience algae growth on both inside and outside fountains. On or in the outside fountains and occasionally on the inside fountains, I would also periodically see dead insects and once a dead animal. Translation: BAD Feng Shui!!! I went to my local garden center who only had product for much larger garden ponds and who didn't offer product that was animal safe. I have dogs and occasional wildlife critters in my back yard, whom I want to keep safe, and occasional playing curious children. I no longer see dead insects around any of the fountains. Nor have I seen any dead animals. I feel comfortable when playing children stick their fingers into the fountain water. My backyard birds leave the outdoor fountains alone, using only their bird baths. I don't have a pond but I feel confident saying that it will work in ponds as well. I recommend this product.

Although the package says that the effect of adding the pack lasts for a month, normal water replacement, especially in hot Houston means you are replacing the water frequently, so the pack does not keep algae from growing for a full month. Even though I started with a pristine fountain, algae grew and I reverted back to an algaecide that is still animal-friendly and it killed all my algae and the fountain once again looks great.

We have a large fountain in our courtyard that was plagued with a terrible red algae all last season. Try as I might to kill it with a traditional algaecide I was forced to drain the fountain multiple times a season. This year I opted for this product. I will never use anything other now. Starting with fresh water, this product does EXACTLY as described and probited the growth of unsightly bacteria and algae growth. It is easy to use and keeps my water crystal clear. I dont worry about my dogs or other animals drinking the water and keeps it crystal clear and essentially matientance free. Love the simplicity and the ultimate effect. Thank you for a wonderful product!

We don't really see much of a difference with it or without it. The main difference we do see is that there is a quite a bit of sediment on the bottom of the fountain and little specs flowing in the water. We have followed the directions and use the right amount and still get sediment. Our fountain is indoor, I don't know whether it will keep the water much clearer on an outdoor fountain. Our fountain is not that large and holds about 3 quarts of water. So it is easier to change the water than try to get the sediment out which entails emptying the fountain anyway, though supposedly less often, but I don't see it. We won't be buying it again. I'm not sure we will use all that we have. I may give it to a friend who has an outdoor fountain he will be uncovering soon so he can see if it works for him. Not worth it for us.

We have a nice water feature; small pool (no fish) and three small waterfalls next to our back deck. I have been using Fountec Algaecide with no problems but was looking for something else. What could be better than dropping a package of this stuff in the fountain? Answer, not much, but only if it worked. TWO days after using it, it look more like I put a Tide pod in - there was about 1-1/2" of white foam covering the entire pond and more white foam in front of every waterfall. If you are look for clear water, this is NOT the product to use. As for toxicity or lack thereof, I'll never know. Took all day to skim the foam off and refill the pond with clean water. If my lawn dies where I emptied buckets, I will deduct another star. Very disappointed.

Fountain Fresh works fine and does what it says it will do but over time, a residue builds up on the bottom of the fountain and actually jams the water pump. Since our fountain weighs 400 lbs., it takes some time for this to occur but I hesitate to give it five stars for that reason.

After trying a variety of products after I could no longer find my stand by Fountain Fresh liquid an longer, I gave in and ordered the powder version. A bit more trouble than the liquid, but the results are worth it. I saw several posts complaining about it not dissolving - key is to use "warm water" as the instructions say. Once I set up a special jar just for that purpose, mixing the product with warm water gives me the same results I used to get from the liquid version, which work much better than anything else I have tried.

This product was reccomend by the company we purchased our fountain from. So far, so good....tossed a couple of pods in, gave the water in the fountain a few stirs.....came back in couple of hours and all was well. The pump was running quiet and the water was super clear.
